Here's a cue rack I have to go down there if it will fit...

Plans say pool room is 18' 8" wide by 26' long (24' from end wall to the stairs). HVAC will be under the stairs and soffet for HVAC duct work running along right wall to the crawl space.

Some food for thought: take a look at Philips Hue lighting (for ambient lighting, not the table). I added that to my pool room and it gives me great control over the ambiance. If I was doing it from scratch, I'd probably go with light strips but even the Hue bulbs in the canisters work very well.

Hue is very easy to install and use; there are cheaper alternatives but I'm not sure how easy those are.

I guess it's a little late to suggest 9' ceilings and I beams to lessen the support poles.

Carpet, I'd suggest commercial grade retail carpet. V short nap, won't hold much allergens, will hold up real well and doesn't use a pad.

Another thing I did with my room is that it only has one small window on the south side that way there is never any glare from outside except for about 5 minutes early in the morning.

I also have only one small window on the south side in the basement plus the walkout on the west side. I need to take pics of the inside of the basement in the daytime.

I've got a 9' table...have a chance to pick up the 60" diamond light for a fair price. Would it be completely foolish to hang this light (designed for the 7' table) over the 9' table? Thinking about the other lighting already installed may work as supplemental table light?

Should I just get one or two of those new LED panels?

Can't wait to get my table set up again...5 or 6 months away...:banghead:

Definitely LED panels! Get two 2' X 4' panels from Wala light in Florida. They come with brightness and cold/hot controllers. Best thing I've ever done. I hate to go out to another pool place because my lighting is so good. Easy to build the panels. You can do that all now. The lights come with cable hangers and you can mount them on the corners. Have your contractor put 12" X 12" blocks in the ceiling frame aligned with the corners of your light panel. You can build the panel and measure all of that now if you know where the table will sit before on paper. I built a new house and here is the setup. At least 1/2 bath room, refrigerator, microwave, table, at least two pool player captain's chairs, neon signs, Plus... I have an extra Fat Tire Bicycle neon sign for sale.

If cats are present I suggest a rigid, waterproof table cover. Put a slight tilt so spilt liquid will run off. Cats will put pinholes in soft materials like a tarp or vinyl, and over time something will leak onto the cloth - I know this from experience.

Cats love to be on high places, and a pool table suits them fine.

That light, table and room look great! Thanks for the thoughts...I'm gonna do the LED route for sure now.

Prairie dog, Wala has two lights that size 18w and 40w, which did you use? And your light (and table) looks amazing! Is the frame for the lights something you bought or is it custom made. I've been looking for a light for my 9' table for a while and yours is by far the best I've seen! So want that!!!

40 watt panels. I built the frame out of poplar wood trying to match the skirts on the Anniversary but it's your choice. Had the guy that refinished the table also do the frame. Two of the panels measure 8' X 2' so 8' length pieces of wood for the frame will not work. Has to be a couple of inches longer. The inside must measure 8' X 2'. Just make a frame and then the panels sit on 1/2" runners around the inside of the frame. I covered the top with a black 1/8" thick material at home depot. Two wires spliced into one plug. I can dim it a bit to clearly see my projector image but not necessary. I like it cold and high illumination but some might want it cooler. Just pressing a button on the controller.

Miss my man UJ. So much fun I had with him. He was one of my pool mentors. They don't make 'em like that anymore. I was so lucky to be around in the heyday of Fats, Cornbread and UJ, and many others. :)

Thanks for your advice, your set up looks awesome!!!

Good call! Here are the culprits...Franny and Zoey. They are my construction supervisory team, but they fall asleep on the job a lot!

Great looking house. I like the modern exterior. Will the interior have a modern feel as well?

Thanks and yes, it will be rather modern. Actually, I don't really know how to answer the question "what style is it"? Lol

They started with the lapboard portion...love the color my wife selected. She is a portrait artist and muralist and she has style. Major props to her.

The horizontal stone between the block and the lapboard is natural blue stone, and the entry way will be natural bluestone as well. Should be fun.
