Identifying your AZB handle in "real life".

If someone mentions AZB and then asks if you're a member, do you tell them your handle? What if they ask?

If you don't...why not?

I understand all about Internet "anonymity" but this is not an Adult-themed board, so I don't see any harm in doing so. For me...anything I say on here I will happily say to anyone in person.

Just curious as to the attitudes about this from some of the members who choose to remain "undercover".

Maybe they are afraid of getting their A$$e$ handed to them for comments they have made. Keyboard tuff guys.

LOL...are you the pussy in your avatar...:)

Not really sure how to take your "question". If this question is in poor taste like I think it is, then of course Im going to ignore it. If you are asking if I am a cat, LOL, then I will assume you are not very smart because we all know cats cant read or write let alone sit at a computer and use a mouse. (cats only eat mice):D

Have never knowingly said anything to anyone in any forum that I wouldn't repeat in real life and have no hesitation in identifying what my azb name is (or the name I use on the uk8ball site...."Backtolife") when the subject comes up.

Heh. The guys saying "I prefer to remain anonymous" and don't tell folks their AZB handles... HAVE THEIR NAMES AS THEIR AZB HANDLES.

O.o

Is this a "What happens in Vegas" kinda thing? Like the commercial with the two women telling two guys their names are Monica and Rachel? Do you guys tell people your names are Fred or something? :D

(Yes I'm just goofing on you guys, I'm not slamming you.)

I'll share with everyone a goofy little rule I came up with, about twenty years ago, regarding the choice of an online name:

"Never choose a handle you would not want shouted across a crowded room."

Meaning, if someone who knows you mainly by your online name, and sees you across a room, and shouts that online name out to get your attention - don't choose one that you will make you drop your head in embarassment when other people look around to see what dork actually goes "Hey, over here!" :)

I remember one kid eons ago who used the nickname "Blue Turtles" (referencing Sting's song from that timespan). I was like... a PLURAL name? That was even a step beyond what I'm talking about. :)

(And back on topic - I always identify myself when the subject comes up. Nothing to hide here.)

So do I.

I don't like people to know who I am in real. For privacy reasons, of course.

Oh you guys are funny!!

LOL!

ps. The handle Milo does not indicate gender, so I would take it as humor Milo. Inside English, FYI Milo IS female so that comment was innappropriate.;)

It depends on the person and if i like them or not.

But for the most part, i don't.
I like my anonymity.
I like to be left alone.

But, i do wear clothes with the word SUPERSTAR on them. So if someone sees me playing and i have the shirt on or the hat and they put 2 and 2 together, no big deal, but if they ask about it, i look at them like they are an alien and ask them what the heck they are talking about

But you also have those people who can't let go of situations and try to get in my face once they know who i am cause of something i said about them.
I don't want to fall off the wagon again (I've been so good of late) and shoot someone in the head because they couldn't deal with it and had to try and get violent.
It protects them from an untimely death.:D

LOL ...good question

I think for many it's a lot easier to WOOF incognito!!! Personally, I decided that this site is a great way to meet a LOT of pool fans, find some new freinds and/or acquaintances and share a common bond. Just don't come inside my 'bubble'.....no one in here but me.

I also don't have a problem telling people my screen name in real life. Why wouldn't somebody willing to identify who they are? There isn't anything that I say on here that I wouldn't be willing to say to anyone in person, so what's the difference?

I ask the question all the time and I'm happy to share my handle. I think it's fun to meet new people we kinda know.

I've meet several AZer's in the Seattle/Portland area, and when
meeting in a poolroom for the first time, the question usually is
something like:

are you asiasdad ??

before learning each others real names.

;)

Ok, I will take it as humor. Thanks Ray for clearing that up.:D

Many of the members know me and I tell AZ members that I meet who I am.

But on the forums I prefer to remain anonymous.
