For anyone that cares: A seller sent me an empty packageand when I told them that there must be a mistake they said: prove it. I offered to provide Digital video of the entire delivery and the opening of the package ( I had them send the item to my office which happens to be in the building that is the headquarters of Goldman Sachs and Royal Bank of Canada, it is one of the most secure buildings in Chicago ) Ebay just ruled in their favor, didn't bother to contact me and ignored every attempt to show proof, I even had a signed affidavit from our building's security which scans and X-rays every item before it is delivered. This should concern anyone that purchases high value cues from Ebay. Side note- I have been an Ebay member since 1998 and have 100% feedback, never had a problem or even had to leave negative feedback for anyone. Luckily for me it was for a $75 bottle of skin cream ( for my Fiance) and not the cue that I purchased for $2200 the week earlier. Using their logic, what's to stop any scammer from selling an expensive cue or watch and then shipping them a broomstick or rocks? How many of you actually video tape the process when you open you package? How many of you have the postman standing there when you open your box? I had both and was still ruled against, Sorry if this ties up the this thread but I think it's pretty relevent and I know a lot of AZ'ers do buy high dollar cues from them.

They printed the weight with the ebay shipping label and printed it off their computer and just sent it first class mail with postage paid

I hate people that scam....

It sure takes a lot of guts to ship a package with nothing in it. We can see more and more scammers ripping people off. It's a BS... I bought some tee shirts on Ebay and never got them I got in touch with Ebay. They told me that they would contact the seller, and gave him 10 days to respond to them he never did so they charged him back and refunded my money. I think it's pure BS. SCUMBAGS nothing but SCUM:angry:

Chris:wink:

Here's my question...

Do you video tape the delivery and opening of all packages that you receive?

I personally find it highly suspicious that you would be recording the delivery and opening of an $80.00 bottle of lotion or perfume package if you haven't had any problems since your account was opened in 1998?!?!?

I don't know you and with that in mind I'm certainly not accusing you of anything but if the people at e-Bay heard the same story you just posted on here, even you would have to think twice about siding with the seller.

I bought a full splice that I was going to convert.....it never arrived and when ebay tried to charge him back he only had like $35 in PP so I was out the fs house cue and the damn money. He had closed out his ebay acct so no other recourse. F@&#'S !!!

I believe what he is saying is the building is highly secure, and has many HD security cameras that film everything, and it has the opening of the package recorded.

If you paid with paypal, start a claim. Go to the police office and get a police report, show them, they will side with you and you'll be compensated.

I work in Institutional finance, literally everything is recorded, my phone calls, emails, instant messages and every movement in the building except for the bathrooms is under video surveillance.

Hi Joe that was the first thing I did, when I opened the case with ebay and then went to Paypal, it said the case was under review, I called ebay repeatedly, sent an email affidavit from the head of our building security and after a month without ever calling me or responded me they just ended the case, said it was closed and let the seller keep my money.

Rule number one

***ALWAYS PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD WHEN MAKING ANY PAYPAL PURCHASES***

So that when things go sideways you can simply call the credit card company to issue a chargeback. Thye remove the money from Paypal. The Paypal claim process is superceded and the claim is now handles by your credit card company.

Why would Paypal do anything to rule in a buyer's favor and cost themselves the comission? They routinely side with sellers.

The credit card company will just tell the seller to prove he sent it...he can't and this would be over.

I had a seller on Craig's list send me a cue that had issues that were not described. I filed my PAypal claim and simultaneously stopped payment with a chargeback. Paypal dropped the dispute. The credit card company ruled in my favor based on texts and photos I provided that clearly show issues that weren't described. I tried to negotiate a $200 refunf with the seller, instead he got nothing and I don't feel a bit bad. He tried to dump a bent joint pin and cracked shaft on me...no way.

Also the last 2 insured/signature required shipments to my house, I have had the ddriver stand there while I open the package in front of them. The last time my wife did it for me. I don't care what they think, these are not cheap cues. People mail 4 pounds of nothing all then time, you cannot be too careful. Demand signature required shipping with full insurance or don't buy the cue.

Is your paypal funded with a credit card? If it is, do a chargeback through your credit card for the amount as "item not as described".

You don't want to file the claim with eBay or PayPal, you dispute the charge through your credit card. Dispute "item received not as described" and you are done. Avoidance of the review process you have just been subjected to is why you pay for all ebay items through PayPal funded by a credit card.

The same thing happened to me, there is an appeals process. Start it and get a police report, that is how the other guy got over on me. That was until he relisted the same item on Ebay. Also ripoffreport.com this is like a death knoll for people. I have a few outstanding debts and those people will end up on ripoffreport and they are almost impossible to get off of.

Of course any CC charge can be reversed that is always the easiest. However if Paypal still sides with them, you cannot use them anymore. For me it was getting paypal reinstated.

I read this thread so forgive me if I missed this; did you pay with your credit card on paypal. If so, start a cc dispute.

some real a-holes out there in ebay land.

I don't have a credit card. How can I protect myself on an ebay purchase?

Marc

Thanks Kevin,Thanks Joe. I am screwed without a CC on this type of scam. This can be useful to others here too.

I do understand the printing the label in house, but, it still has to be scanned by a postal worker. Would be interesting to see the weight of the label. I would keep that label and find out which post office was responsible for scanning that tracking number as they can find out exactly who it was. Maybe a little pressure towards the local usps post office or postal worker will have them keeping an eye open on this person misusing their service. The package crossed state lines and that brings in federal mail fraud. Hopefully it was just a mistake, but, if it was not, I am sure they would be happy to keep a closer eye.
