What about 3-ball. I guess nobody wants to win at the State Fair any more? You get four to six players at a buck, this shit adds up quick.

One hole for me.

When I played it all the time, it made all of my other games a lot better. learn to play where you only have one pocket to make balls in and you will get better at the other 5 pockets too.

I picked 9-ball, only because the majority of tournaments are 9-ball, and that would be the best opportunity to pick up a little extra $$$$.

From a pure playing perspective, I think straight pool would be the game to master.

I feel exactly how Steve feels here.

I picked One Pocket...Dave hassa point about 14.1, I choose to play it using the bottom two pockets

LOL

These days I have trouble using any of the pockets.

Wow.....

I am shocked at the total lack of rotation players here. From the list I have to go with that. To be the best in that carries over to all the other games way more than straight pool IMO. The Philipinos play rotation as a staple....case closed. Make rotation be part of your practice routine and it will bring up your game no matter what you play.

Rotation =
-precise cue ball paths
-precise position
-great shotmaking
-safety play (offensive and defensive)
-banks
-forethought
-the ability to add :p

Personally, I think snooker should top the list, but it's not on the list.

Straight pool, for that is the game I hold in the highest regard and I think the skills required to be the best at it carry over to other games the most.

Unlike some, I'm wasn't looking at this question from the perspective of making money, otherwise the easy answer is 9/10 ball. I just looked at it from the perspective of which game I'd like to be the best in the world at.

Let's face it, if you were the best at any one of these games you could probably do pretty well financially in any of the others, whether in tournament play or straight action.

Wish to be the best pool player and game!

If you were granted the wish to be the best pool player, but you had to pick 1 game, what one would you pick.

8 ball
9 ball/10 ball
straight pool
1 pocket
Rotation
And not to discriminate against Kentucky, Banks

If I could be the best Pool Player in the World "Ever" and pick the game, it would be....."The Greatest Hustler that has Ever Lived"...... ( U.J. "RAGGS" Puckett,) at 9-Ball...!!!!!!...Hands Down!

Quote from the Legend himself:

"If I could cut a 9-Ball as thin as this bacon on my plate, I would be WORLD CHAMPION!"...U.J.Puckett:)

It's got to be one-hole. It's the only game where you could be on the stall for life. You never have to show your full speed, let the world give you weight and just make sure you cover. If your looking for tournament fame, 9 ball is the way to go. But, guys that never miss soon never get action. And even the best 9 ballers can't win every tourney b/c of the luck factor. If you had a time machine, maybe straight pool. As for 8 ball, you better love APA or have a lot of faith in the IPT. And being the best 1hole player automatically makes u pretty jam up in all other games as well. Big scores to be made everywhere if done right.

Rotation

I would say 15ball rotation. If you can string 7-10 racks like there's no tomorrow then 9/10 ball would be a walk in the park as well. IMO, rotation is probably the hardest game in pool. One hole would be a close second and straight pool being the third.

I choose 9ball/10ball because if im "THE BEST" I want plenty of exposure....and money yea...so Id go with the most popular...my favorite? not exactly but hey, i could live with being "second best" at my favorite game while making serious cash for the game im best at ;)

I'd have to pick 9/10 ball just because that is what I've played most. It also has the most notoriety so I'd have my fans :)

I will say this about straight pool. I played a race to 500 with someone one time before I quit playing. The first night we played we had a crowd around us which never happened before with me playing any other game and I can honestly say that I never felt better and it really fed my game.
