When I came down to FL in 1980, I had just sold my poolroom and was playing my best pool ever. In NY I never really knew but a few pros by face.

In FL I was playing four different pros at different times and holding my own with them (not saying I would win) all before someone in the room would tell me who I was playing. The soon as I found out it was a pro, I went from my "A" to my "B- game. Funny how mental pool really is. The 4 pros were, Mike Davis, Buddy Hall, CM Lee, and Steve Cook. Johnnyt

when and where in florida was this??
p.s if you would step up to play them you must play pretty sporty..

Wasn't Mike Davis born in the late 70's?

I'm the same way around pretty young girls, Johnnyt. I don't know whether to shit, or go blind.
As soon as I clean myself up I'm heading for the Optometrist. :D

By the middle nineties, Mike Davis was a player.

But, this story would have had Mike Davis as a pro in 1980.

Mike was probably in his early to mid 20s, tearing up things in Maryland in about 1993, by my own eyes.

His birth would probably be more like 1970 or so. But this story has him as a pro in 1980.

Sometimes, you just have to do the math. Then, decide for yourself.

All the best,

I didn't take it he was playing them in 1980. That's just when he moved to Florida. Is how I read it.

Hillary Clinton wasn't named after Sir Edmund Hillary then?:)

Correct. Edmund Hillary would not have been known to Hillary Rodham's parents. Another urban legend debunked, though hopefully that was an easy one. Not as easy though, as Hillary Clinton claiming to ever be under sniper fire, another Clinton falsehood.

The only Clinton to be under sniper fire was Bill, from launched objects from Hillary in the White House. Probably in Arkansas too, for that matter, but who knows. Could be a long list of projectiles directed at that particular Clinton, God help him.

And that's the way it is.

LOL. I played Mike Davis in the early to mid 90's in a bar in Gulfport, FL. A use to be friend set it up/ set me up. I had no idea who he was until a guy that knew me came in and told me. The other three were around the first year down here. Johnnyt

PS: I was only a little over a decade off...give me a break...I'm 76 YO and I drank a lot back then.

Bottoms up baby.

I got revenge for ya. Didn't pay too well though, so I am keeping your half.

I don't think you liked it too much playing Buddy or Steve Cook back then. C.M. Lee was a good shortstop and a young Mike Davis about the same. You could have held your own against them, am I right?

Buddy beat the hell out of me. Cook beat me, but it wasn't by much. Johnnyt
