If you had 5k

that's a pretty shitty pic buddy...don't matter.. they play like race horses on top form...;)

When I get my new monster from keith next month, I'm going to have this one changed to a lizard wrap, add Roman's name in gold to the but cap, and refinish the whole cue. (She's got some battle scars.) Then it will be time for a photo shoot with good camera, of my new cue, this one, and hopefully a couple of REALLY BADASS VOLTURI CASES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:grin::grin::grin:

Here are some of the names suggested in this thread that you have ZERO chance of getting in your 1 year request:

Dave Barenbrugge
Randy Mobley
Paul Mottey
Dennis Searing
John Showman
Barry Szamboti
Murray Tucker
Mike Webb
James White

Pete Tascarella or Ron Haley are makers you may be able to buy spots for. Resale value would be excellent for both.

Ernie from Gina is one of the best all-time but I think he minimum cue maybe right at 5k. He is an excellent choice.

I'm not sure of his wait but, Bob Manzino is one of the best there is.

Pete Tonkin is an intriguing name and is very popular right now. But he turns out a lot of work, so resale may be an issue here as well. But his work is tremendous.

In my opinion, $5,000 is way too much for a maker that has a wait less than 1 year. The resale value is terrible because there is no incentive for the secondary market.

Buying on the secondary market is a good option as some have suggested. You may find a great value in a South West or any of the makers listed in the "ZERO" chance list above.

Good luck in your decision!!!

Very well said Chris, very objective and to the point. Agree with everything except a tasc...hard to move a $5k tasc unless its cost $7k new...entry level tasc moves alot easier.

I have my Cue of choice, and it is my monster. I would take the 5K, and live like a king for a weekend in a nice room at Talking Stick Caino in Scottsdale. Pig out on great food, play the slots, three card poke, and hopefully win some money to remember.

Barry or Tony(Black Boar) or Searing.

better yet all 3:eek::eek:

Edit: I played with a couple randy Mobley cues that impressed me, they played very nice.

$5k is an enigma of money, it's huge.

i would take my time looking around, thinking about wood, quality of hit (too much to list).

meanwhile, i might put my money into an interest earning account.
what ever you decide, make sure it's right for you.

please, dont let us see it in the forum for sale after 2 months of ownership.

Did I miss something I wrote, did I mention Mike as a craftsman cue maker? JV recommended a 3K cue, a case, and lessons from a champ, and I totally agree. That would go much further than the difference between a 3K and a 5K cue.

But I got a question for you, how does many of these posts, on cue makers, relay to the OP getting a cue within approximately a year?

My Bad , I mis-understood your post . Actually didn't read before writing a re-ply . Sorry Bud , Jim

Lots of good choices

If you had 5k and wanted a monster cue built who would you have build it and why ? This will be a reality for me later this year I am just not sure who I want to build it. I would also like it done within a year. Now I realize that might be pushing it but then again maybe not. What wood combos would you use? I like ebony and honduran rose wood burl. Let me here your opinions.
I will add only one. Gary Medlin(GEM Cues) out of Lake Charles,Louisiana.

No CNC, all handwork, and if you want to play pool with your monster, his cues are great.

In the future a cue in this price range will increase dramatically, I guarantee it.

On AZ his handle is winners07. Check him out.

I didn't tell him to spend ALL of the money...

Joe V. had a great idea of buying a Justis case to go with whatever cue he buys.

I do not think it was a great idea ;-)

Definitely needs to spend 700 with me and get1500 worth of case and have an extra 300 left over to go out with the wife for a romantic dinner.

I second Klein, but for me the first pick would be Webb , but I really don't think he could do anywhere near a year

Richard black if you tell him i have 5000 and here is a theme run with tit ! you will get a ton of cue

and Thomas wayne also will do the same thing! two hall of famers and none better with design

Timmy, Dennis, Randy, Tony, Ron, John, Barry and Leon.

Why not Gus, George or Jerry?

OBVIOUSLY you did not read the OP's question.

There is only one person you can get a cue in less than one year and for $5,000 or under in the names you stated.

Care to guess who?

you're not going to get any direct from the maker in year, if you can...well you should ask why.........
