For many of us it's all about the forums, staying current on what's going on, parlaying with others, kvetching about the issue du jour, making friends (and the occasional enemy), and smoozing with other pool players. It's a cyber-cocktail party everyday. I doubt many even visit much of the rest of the site

Lou should be banned for speaking yiddish .

Boo Hoo Hoo....poor me.

I don't want to hurt your ego but I didn't realize you had been banned.
Many of the old time "gurus" of pool have a hard time dealing with criticism of their BS stories.
They've held court in various poolrooms for so long, with their group of friends and
tush hogs there to "beat hell out of any upstart challengers" that they forget they're irrelevant to many others. In fact almost laughable at times.
So when they get on a well regulated internet forum, they begin to mistakenly believe the world rotates around their little center of activities. Therefore they run off at the mouth too much, break rules, and get chased out.
Following that, they begin the "I am a victim" whining, like little girls,....."so and so is worse than me" etc. etc. etc. View attachment 371044
They still are living in the past of "Johnston City Days" and ....'"remember when we did that trip to Tulsa and robbed that big bookmaker with the Colt .45 and barely got of town"...and on and on it goes.
Their big mouths got them banned.....not some "sinister" moderator or site owner who "likes someone better than me".
There's the door.....if this place isn't for them, then they can hit the door running and take it somewhere else

An addendum to SJD's "roll":

IMO, SJD has become some kind of whipping boy for the management here and his last ban was uncalled for. I also agree that he should have had the "Pro Player" descriptor added above his name long ago. He is a known, legendary, HOF player. If there's any justice here, it will be added in short order and an apology for the oversight extended.

(Wait, wait, give me a moment... whew, OK, I'm back. I laughed so hard about an apology being extended I started coughing. I'm OK now.)

Anyways, SJD is certainly one of the "characters" I was referring to in my original post. The "characters" here are the spice in the AZ stew pot. Without the SJDs, JAMs, PJs, and dare I say it, JBs, this place gets pretty bland. And I would like to point out that you don't need to ban someone to alter their contributions to the forum. After enough abuse and failure to protect, key posters feel marginalized and will change the quality and quantity of their contribution to AZ all on their own. They will post less. They will start few threads. They will provide less original content. They will ignore those discussions and questions to which they hold the answers, all to the detriment of the site. It is an overlooked reason why people have noted the long, slow slide of the quality of discussion here. Is it more peaceful? Yes. Is it also more boring? Oh yeah.

A place where creative ideas can be discussed without having people attack other posters becauses of their screen name or their location is what this place is about. Lou, you and several other posters don't use this forum for creative discussion. You use it to create drama. SJD only wants drama. Why is it, two of the more well known posters on this forum are only here to create drama? It's because that's your way of life. You guys continually skirt the bounds of sensible and will forgo meaningful discussion to hurl insults. You insult the owners of these forums by saying they're not running the ship like you would. Well here's a reality check. If you want to run your mouth with invulnerability, there are other places on the internet that welcome that idea with open arms, this ain't one of them.

I didn't either, is there a banned list or something?

Ah !...I see you have given up your brazen, 1/4 page sig. logo, and instead decided to regale the readers,
with your "words of wisdom" (aka 'Wileyism's).. However, it looks like you may have copied it, ver batim,
from 'Grey Ghosts' sig. line !.. Originality never was your best game, was it ? ;)

SJD

PS..I am surprised you have allowed 'alstl's' avatar to remain, uncontested ! ..How embarrassed you must be,
every time you see, this blatant slur to your 'alter ego' :sorry:

While I do enjoy a post of yours every once in a while, if getting banned from an internet forum gets your feathers ruffled this much, you may want to re examine your life. It's an internet forum. You may not like how things are run, but at the end of the day just remember it is an internet forum.

Welcome back btw

You "characters" have your place but it's not in a thread that could actually be informative to others. You really think your witty banter adds to the forum. Sure in some thread but maybe you could act like grown ups (how you want to be treated) and resist hacking every thread. Actually you "characters" don't hack every thread, just ones where certain members post. I know some of you don't care about others but lets say there is an informative thread, then you "characters" hack it with your witty banter and who knows how many members stop reading because you "characters" won't stop with your witty banters and other members don't want to read 20 pages of your witty banter to obtain what they could have in 5. That's what you "characters" don't understand. You probably push more members away than you think. Oh and we are all members of this forum.

Really?

So it's OK if you attack CJ, Rhea, Mark Wilson, Mark Griffin, and anyone who points out how your buds bailed on their "team mates" for the MC?

More than a little two-faced is you ;-)

Funny. You certainly didn't seem to mind the witty banter surrounding my match with JB -- you had plenty to say about all that. And if you want to go looking for someone who is hacking every thread with self-promo you got the wrong guy. Look no further than CJ. He gets into a thread and can be counted on as a contender for top-poster :)

You need a history lesson. I dispise the way CJ treats these forums. Everytime he gets involved in a conversation he always steers it in a manner to hawk his wares. He only exists on these forums to make money. As soon as CJ stops seeing the money flow from these forums, he'll be gone. I've said nothing about either Mark that can be construed as an attack or degrading unlike the words you've used. As far as Rhea goes. Whenever you broadcast yourself as a failure and want to attract failure, you reap what you sow. And again, you think your definition of team overwrites the actual definition of team.

You on the other hand Lou, create drama for your insationable need for attention. How many times did you insult JB in a manner that was more racist than funny? You can continue to be the drivel of the forums that you are, but the one thing you'll never change is getting people to like you. As long as you and SJD believe you can act in a manner that you're better than us, you will be given vacations for your sour attitudes. Stop trying to be a voice of reason to these forums because it's quite clear from the owners of these forums that they couldn't give two shits who you guys are. Or anyone of us is for that matter. It's their property and if you got a problem with who they let in here and don't, you can pack your suitcase and leave. You weren't invited here in the first place, so when you get told to leave you can't cry.

In response to the OP. There are certain places in life we land, and where we are banned, and I hate marching bands in December in the humidity of the Midwest. At times I know I'm babysitting and take joy in going away for awhile, but I always remember this....being here is like being in a pool room, and most always I don't want to hang with over ninety percent of those in there. Conflict then becomes a natural. It's like being in a pool room but you have to listen to ''all their thoughts'', but you definitely Don't want to be with em, around em or physically near Any Part of em.

That's how I read it....

I agree.

Still lost in the past, with faded trophies, saddened faces... that show no traces.

I admit, I used to cultivate that personna, and have for years...I liked to call it, my "Dean Martin" act, who (truth be known) also RARELY ever drank, and only used it, as I did, to promote a fun-loving, 'out of control' image...It was kind of a way to make better games ! (who doesn't like to play 'drunks' ?)...Since I don't play anymore, I no longer need it...But, keep impressing me with how well you know my personal life habits !
I would greatly appreciate, the courtesy of an acknowledgement regarding my insight, (even a negative one)..from at least one of you !
Sincerely
Dick Mc Morran...(aka)--SJD---the "Drunk Duck"--"Ban Boy", etc
And anyone under the age of 25 (the age groups we'd like to see get into pool) will look at you with a blank stare and say....."Who is Dean Martin?"
(dead before most of them were even born)
Talk about being behind the times....ace, you're the poster child for it.

"The loveable drunk was a schtick that Martin borrowed from Joe. E. Lewis. Martin’s accurate portrayal of an inebriated partier lead many to believe that he was quite the alcoholic. There have been some claims that Dean Martin didn’t actually drink on stage though– that he didn’t have alcohol in his glass, but rather apple juice. That is a one-hundred percent lie – Dean Martin did drink on stage often. His drink of choice while performing was J&B scotch mixed with soda. He might not have actually been drunk on stage. Phyllis Diller put it best when she said that he “wasn’t drunk when he acted, but he wasn’t sober either.”

http://www.examiner.com/article/did-dean-martin-have-a-drinking-problem

"Dean, according to daughter Deena's book, did have a "drinking problem," as did many other night club performers of his era. Frank, Sammy, and even Bing Crosby, had a similar problem."

"If people want to think I get drunk and stay out all night, let 'em. That's how I got here, you know."

Doctors found that his lungs were "riddled with tumors." Supposedly, the doctors gave him only a few months to live. Dean walked out, and continued drinking and partying for over 2 more years. His agent, Mort Viner made a statement, "It's obvious that Dean has resigned himself to facing death with a beer in one hand and a bottle of pills in the other."

Dear Mr. Hard, (is that your last name ?) Could we please have a little 'true or false' test here ?..Only one of your assertions is valid (ie; True) The other two, are so far wrong, (ie; False) that they question the validity of your ONE 'true' statement !

Soooooo, if you can't correctly identify the correct (ie; True) statement you made, then maybe its YOU, who thinks you are gifted with a superior intellect ! Heres a hint for you..Two of the guys you are referring too, are probably two of the most 'self deprecating' poster's, on the entire forum !

Speaking of Dean Martin, I ran into Jerry Lewis a few years ago at a restaurant on Walnut Hill and Greenville Ave. He was bloated up like whale and still drinking like a fish (it was a seafood restaurant, so these descriptions are appropriate) ;)

Jerry became most well know for his charity for kids "Jerry's Kids" and the Jerry Lewis Telethon. I'm not sure how involved Dean Martin was with the charity, or if he was at all.
