i'm Back I was in jail this week

Fatboy

Don't feel pregnant buddy! No pun intended my friend.
I got a ticket for sticking my thumb out on interstate 95 and was picked up driving a Red Top cab 2 months later. Left the fare in the cab, was jailed in Fairfax and extradited to a 100 year old jail in Manassas, by God, Virginia. Made me stay the evening. Lost my dam job too. Failure to appear don't put a smile on da judges face. I don't think. Welcome back.

Is Ruth's still at the top of that Art Deco Skyscraper off of 264?

Its called Kaden Tower. It's actually a Frank Loyd Wright building. There is info about it inside the lobby.

I try to eat at Ruth's Chris when I can. I've been to dozens of them around the world. Louisville is a good one, I eat there about 3 times a year.

Louisville is also home of the original Del Frisco's.

I have never eaten at the one in Louisville, but I have eaten at their San Francisco and Austin locations and never been disappointed in any way. They are definitely pricey, but man, those steaks are the nuts!:)
I have eaten at the Ruth's Chris in Raleigh (actually Cary) and they ARE the nuts. That chicken kicks a little arse, too. They have a banana dessert with a flamed sugar topping that can give most sweets the seven.

Love the Crab Cake

Rc's is most assuredly a GREAT place to dine...

You might think I am BS'ing here.. but there is a small famliy run steakhousein Wurzburg named (appropiately enough) SteakHaus....

This joint will give RC the orange crush.. no shit no lie... RCs would take them in an all around event..but whe it comes to main courses and appetizers...no contest....

Fatboy..(or anybody else for that matter) next time you post up in Munchen..gimme a holler...you do not want to miss this place.

The original steakhouse was Chris' Steakhouse in New Orleans. I used to eat there with my parents in the early 60s. They served a steak that the entire family couldn't finish and the mound of onion rings wouldn't be believed. Thin cut, beer batter fried and served on a huge platter.

I used to eat at the 1st Ruth's Chris Steakhouse when Ruth Fertel bought out Chris' in the mid 60s. Like Bill, I've never had an unsatisfactory meal at Ruth's.

( our dinner tonight is red beans and rice with three kinds of smoked sausage, one type of hot sausage and some 'pickle meat'. I made a 20qt. pot full, with three boxes of rice on the side. Gave some to our neighbor and sent 10 lbs. to my wife's job for the entire office staff )

Just for the fun of it, I called Harry's New Orleans style food a few miles from my home here in Tampa and asked them how much their dinner plate of red beans & rice cost and it was $12 (TWELVE DOLLARS !!! ) with one type of smoked sausage. My 20 qt. pot must be $1,000 worth and taste much better... imo :)

In California the newest slogan is "Click it or ticket"! I guess the gangs and drug runners are too dangerous, so the police want to focus on easier targets, like housewives.

Hey, Fatboy, glad you're back in circulation! I'm sure the comfortable seating and sleeping arrangements in the jail did wonders for your back.

About 15 years ago, I was walking out of my local poolroom around midnight and there are two policemen sitting in their patrol car just down from where my car is parked. As I approach my car, they get out and ask for my driver's license. I'm told there is an outstanding warrant for not paying a speeding ticket from a year ago. I tell them I paid it but to no avail.

Assume the position, the friendly click of the handcuffs and the free ride downtown.

Having never been in jail, the processing routine was an experience to say the least. Being moved from cell to cell as they processed me was a lot of fun. At one point, I was put in a empty cell that would hold about 15 people by myself. About 10 minutes later, they stuff about 30 others in there with me. It's now like a can of sardines.

Since I got a seat, one gentleman who was standing decided he wanted my seat. One punch to the jaw and he found a nice spot on the floor to take a nap. About two minutes later, they called my name to go to the next step which was to be checked for TB. This was the last step before you get the little orange jumpsuit with the big letter "P" on the back.

Feeling pretty desperate at this point while I was standing in that line, I took one last shot and I asked a lady that was sitting at a desk with a computer my story and if she could check to see if I had paid the ticket. She did and said, "The ticket was paid. You're not suppose to be here." She went and got somebody's approval and I was put in another line with the people they were releasing. It still took another two hours to get out.

As the guard opened the door to the lobby, I asked how I was suppose to get back to my car. As he was slamming the door, he said, "That's your problem, we ain't a f$#@$ing taxi service!"

One thing I will never forget was the fine jail house cuisine. I was given a frozen peanut butter and jelly sandwich that had been smashed flat and a little carton of warm milk. They should have packed the milk in with the PB & J to keep it cold. LOL

So, Fatboy, the choice is jail house fare or Ruth Chris. Tough choice!.

Hope you're feeling better! If you make it to the Derby, let's hit some around!

Chris

If someone doesn't rat them out, they are stupid and tell friends what they did, or they get caught red-handed coming out the window...no one gets caught...only on tv. There are plenty of safe felonies they can book w/o any danger. Johnnyt

'fraid Fatboy is stringing us along

I heard a rumor from a reputable source who got it from a reputable source who got it second hand in Reno that the real deal is that Fatboy scammed KT out of a couple million and then wouldn't take a check when Kevin tried to pay off. By the time the fight was over they had busted up a nice joint and that is how they both managed to spend a week in jail. Separate cells, and I found out too late to try to set up the right roommate for Kevin.

On to the main subject of this thread, There is a restaurant in an old icehouse in Raton New Mexico that cooks up super dead cow. I don't remember if the name is the ice house but the locals can point you in the right direction I'm sure. Best steak I have had in years, second only to some elk a friend grilled as the best red meat ever.

Steak in the NW

There is a Ruth's Chris in Seattle, but you would have to be crazy to eat there. The Metropolitan Grill gives it the seven out, and for a little more money, El Gaucho gives it the Orange Crush and nine on the wire in a race to ten.

I'm not questioning you at all, but I'm wondering if you think it is better quality meat (hard to get higher than Prime) or better preparation?

Speaking of meat compliments for beans, I found out this past week that The Honey Baked Ham Company sells the ham bone left over after fileting most of the ham off of the bone. Actually they leave a sizeable portion of the bone and sell the ham bone for six dollars. Most people can make a few ham sandwiches with the meat left on the bone; you might be able to stretch one or two sandwiches. Most of the time I give gift baskets from Maple Ridge Farms but I have been giving gift certificates to one particular customer and he finally told me the story of how his wife purchase ham bones from The Honey Baked Ham Company to use in their red beans and rice. For those of you not from New Orleans or not familiar with our tradition, MANY of us cook red beans and rice on Monday. It is a staple on most New Orleanian's plate, in the restaurant or at home. This customer received a gift certificate from me in 2004 but didn't use it for that holiday season so they were holding it to use for the following season (2005). He lived in Chalmette, Louisiana and many of you know what happened to virtually all of the Chalmette homes (Far East New Orleans).

For those of you who missed the party: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effect_of_Hurricane_Katrina_on_New_Orleans

His wife and he returned to their soaked home and recovered NOTHING. He recently told me the story about the lost gift certificate so I decided to give The Honey Baked Ham Company a chance to do the right thing. They did even though it was two years after the loss. I told them the true story and that was about all of the arm twisting I needed to do. They had to contact the regional manager to get permission to re-issue the certificate but it's exactly what they did.

Now with that gift certificate I am headed over to THBHC to get a freezer full of ham bones. :D :D

Just kidding, my customer was so aghast that I went to bat for him and got his gift certificate replaced, he even said thank you. :)

JoeyA (likes doing business with The Honey Baked Ham Company).
