SWEET!!! I'm writing, I'm writing!

With nubbins, what can I say to motivate you more you little old devil you. Or sandpaper?

Pool community expects truths, great stories, or your best recollections thereof, you may have been under the weather somtetimes or not in the best position to relate the full story, but History is being served here, and one appreciated by all members of the forum, not big lies, so tell it like it was as best you saw it then, and some may have different recollections and that is OK, more sides to the story the better IMO. In the end, the real bigger picture of the sport of pool emerges, with all talents, warts, egos, gambling, events, history, chronicling thereof for all to see.

Everybody is a guppy when you are a shark. And there are a hell of a lot of guppies that at one time thought we were sharks.

I'm writing it pretty much like I write on here. I definitely have an opinion about the players I saw and some of the shenanigans that went on. I know who gambled high and who gambled "good", and vice versa. I know who the players feared (NONE more than Keith!) and who the suckers were. A few people may not like what I have to say in this book, but that's their fault, not mine.

I'll tell you how honest I will be. I was known as a "nit", because I didn't bet high. I never played for a thousand a game until 1988 with Harry Platis. So I will tell on myself also. But I was also known as one of the games best handicappers of players, and a good sidebetter. Everyone would ask me who I liked before a big match got underway.

Thanks for all the support. I will have to give credit to the AZ crew in the foreward.

The outline is a big start. Of course you will be adding to it as you go along as new things just pop into your head. Its funny how while your writing one part of a story how you get reminded of other things that happened in that time period. Good luck with the book. Johnnyt

Could be. It was hard to get a word in edgewise with Lon. He was a "mic" hog in those days. That was played in Santa Rosa, CA. C.J. won the Mens title and Vivian won the Womens. Then C.J. played Vivian for the overall title. Big money also. C.J. made like 90K total and Vivian something like 65K.
It was in Vegas at the Mirage, 50k winner take all. Earl mocked the crowd, clapping when he missed.

Calling out...

Yes! I was at The Mirage that year and that was the first time that I met Jay. He was the referee. It was the first time that I had seen anyone smoking a cigarette wearing white gloves.

Hope you have given them up now my friend.

Earl was certainly in his Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde mode.

Playing a shot with back to Ralf, who was sitting in his chair, he announced "I know you are behind me Ralf, but I know that you are moving."

Doug Gordon

Look forward to reading your Chronicles of Pool

Was he moving?
