i'm not at all interested in having my cues "lost" aka stolen by some baggage handler or even lost because they were shipped to the wrong place.

anyone else really paranoid about this?

anyway i'm considering mailing them to myself via the ups. anyone else have a better idea?

anyone want to kick it and grab a beer or play some cheap sets (no champions unless they're giving up the world)

fatboy that means you man! looks like i'm going to be in vegas before you make it back to stockton. you want me to bring you a "run 209" shirt or something? they look like the run dmc shirts

maybe you can teach me how to play 1 pocket (cheap though).

I shipped mine to the hotel desk I was staying at via FedEx. They were waiting for me when I got there. While FedEx is an expensive option, they have never lost or damaged any package I have ever shipped with them, and I have been a regular user (several times a month) for the past 15 + yrs.

If you value your cues and I am sure you do, the extra price for the piece of mind is well worth the cost. You can put your case into one of the triangle boxes with ease.

Good luck in Vegas

Sounds like that's how i'm going to do it. Thanks for letting me know it works so well.

If you mail them, overnight them to a fedex store and go pick them up when you get off the plane. Fedex will hold a package if you use next day.

If you mail them to yourself at your hotel you are taking a bigger risk than flying with them.

You have a much better chance of them getting lost or stolen in the hotel mail system than with an airline. Yes I speak from experience.

DRIVE to Las Vegas from Stockton, South on 5, to 58 Higway East, to I-15 North, and you will be there FAST. If you Cues get Lost in Transit, Blame the DRIVER!

no way! i hate driving long distances. a flight won't take long and i don't have to worry about the wear and tear on my car.

They can be checked in as regular luggage. NOT carry on. If you get one of the cue travel bags available from many billiard stores you can pack three maybe four cue cases. Then all of you can split the cost of the one extra bag. This is much cheaper than mailing. If you have room in one case two people can put their cues in one case. You can aslo buy a duffle bag. Not as fancy, but it still gets the job done. Keep in mind the weight of the bag. You don't want to go over fifty pounds.
When you get to the Riv there will be someone with an area for you to check you cues. This is good if you are not staying at the Riv and don't want to carry the case back and forth.

Than I would use Federal Disaster, Buy Insurance, and Prey,

I'm doing the checked luggage route... But the cue case is being bubble wrapped and put into a duffle bag surrounded by my clothes. It's a direct flight so not too worried about it as layovers are the killer for lost luggage... I agree with not trusting the front desk of a large hotel in Vegas with the package... I may be shipping my cue back though as I have a layover on the flight back.

sammy dont ship bro, just get a long suitcase with a hard bottom and sides. out your whole case in there and then pack clothes and shoes around it.
I flew to Vegas last year and my cue was safe and sound via southwest from SFO.
Sorry Im missing it, if I was around I would roll down with you. have fun!

i want to ship 'em because i don't want a baggage guy or someone working security to walk away with it. i don't want to check it.

man when're you coming back to the states?

Since the 'Ban', we've been packing our cue cases in our luggage. The challenge has been finding a piece of luggage that works well.

High Sierra Sports Company has a decent rolling duffel that has some pretty good reviews. Here's a link.

If you're not wanting to put it in your luggage, then shipping it may be the best case. The suggestion from TAR may be the way to go.

Here is the same bag, but for 106.90

32 inches should be enough for an instroke, but High Sierra also makes slightly larger versions as well. Here's a 36" version for less. 89.99

Don't believe the retailer on the prices.. you can find them cheaper someplace else.

Player,

Check Southwest out of both Oakland and San Jose to Vegas. Usually modestly priced. Sacramento is more money. Be prepared to arrive at least an hour and a half early at either airport. The flight is an hour either way. Baggage will take about forty five minutes from your departing the plane in Vegas. Take one of the Bell Transports to your hotel. Less than a cab when you buy a round trip ticket.

The drive time from Sacramento to Vegas through Reno was about eight hours. Cowboy's route should be shorter. Share the drive with another AZ'er!

I think it is a bad decision to check it on the plane. If it snags ANYWHERE they will not hesitate to force it along.

FedEx is used to handling semi-delicate, expensive things and I believe it has systems/ protocol in place that result in better mailing service. I don't want to travel FedEx, but I do ship my shiat with it.
