Does anyone play around there? I am looking to get back into playing a little bit.

A quick google search says there's a place to play...I've never been there, but at least a starting point for you.

Thanks! I googled pool out that way and found a few places. I was trying to get some inside info from local players. From the website, it looks like "Easy Street Billiards" is a fun place to play. I would feel at home in a pool hall named "Easy Street"!

There's also a nice room in Santa Cruz called Surf City Billiards:

Not much in the way of action when I was there but the GC4's are first rate and the food is decent.

In Capitola there is Fast Eddie's. It's a little dumpier than Surf City but you will probably find more action there.

Both are up the coast about 1/2 an hour or so.

And of course, about 90 minutes away or so is the California Billiard Club in Mountain View. A little far to go just to knock balls around but worth the drive for a tournament or if you are planning to stay the whole day/evening.

don't know much about the pool action up there, but it is a beautiful region. If you have time you should make a trip to Point Lobos- very scenic

Monterey

Monterey is a beautiful area and has, of course, one of the nicest aquariums in the US (if you're into that) among the other local hot spots that others have mentioned. But overall, it's kind of a small area so you'll figure things out pretty quick. And you're only a couple hours drive from the SF Bay area so that's not too bad. Why the move?

Oh, and Bluefin would be more like a bar with pool tables than say a pool hall. Easy St. is an upscale bar with nice tables and people. =o]

Easy Street is a nice casual room. Michael Stansbury keeps the place in tip-top shape. Very little action but a good place to practice.

Fast Eddie's in Capitola is a 40 minute drive up the coast and has a bit more competition.

My vote is for Easy Street (used to be BowTie Billiards). Pretty much a straight up pool room. Most of the players in the area end up there at some point. Blue Fin Billiards (is that even still open?) had a portion that was just pool, but it's part restaraunt part bar, etc. Plus, I found the table conditions a little poor (too much humidity, it's right in Cannery Row, on the water), the tables were upstairs on an old, rickety wood floor and about twice as expensive as Easy Street (that was 10 years ago, might be different). Tony Annigoni was briefly house pro at Blue Fin, but he seemed to spend all his time at Bow Tie!

I've always wanted to go to Monterey. They have stinky strippers there I wonder?

Before long, you're gonna be the "go to guy" on the best places to play. Hell, you've lived in about 50 cities all over the US in the past 5 years...:)

I do not remember the name of the place but the owner of one of the pool rooms owns one of Jerry McWorter's first pointed cues. The points are not the same length and Jerry has always wanted it back, but this guy plays so well with it, that he will not sell it back to him. He is a good player so if you find him, I am sure you can get into some good games.

Easy Street is the place to go. The Blue Fin closed a couple of years ago. My wife and I traveled over that way. I was excited to go to the Blue Fin. It was Upstairs in a mall. They had closed the week before we got there. Was really disappointed.

Found Easy Street. Four or five blocks away from the wharf. Top Shelf room, great people, great food, awesome room.

Don't miss it!:clapping:

Work. I am heading to Ft. Ord.

If you're a golfer, Ft Ord has two nice golf courses . You will love their main monster course!.

Also, if Garlic City Billiards is still open (located in Gilroy, garlic capitol of the world), you should check that out. Was originally opened by "Action" Bob but not sure if he still owns it or not (if it's open) but he knows what's going on in the south bay, santa cruz, monterey area. Look it up and give him a call if they still exist, tell him Dave Gross sent you and please say hi to him for me. I've been gone for over 10 years from there.

You will love the area. Good luck.

Dave
