NIT stands for "Nothing In There" this is in referance to the persons head.

Take care

For Sale ads really shouldn't be bumped more than twice a day...once early and once late, IMHO.

Yes, in the last several days I have been bumping a couple of threads fairly incessantly, simply because they are a warning to those to avoid doing business with a rip-off artist that has been screwing people for years here, under different monikers.

The other thread is what you can do/who to contact in the event that you should get ripped off. More like PSA's. :D

A nit is also the egg of a lice/louse.....a juvenile parasite.....which is probably a more apropos definition when used as I have seen it on this forum.....

The definition of a nit, courtesey of urban dictionary......
I love this one :)

nit
gambling term. usually found in poolrooms. Refers to:

1. Someone who's so afraid to lose a bet that they have to be coddled and convinced for an hour that they're going to have a great time and probably win, too. Eventually they may play, but by the time they get on the table the stakes are so low the table-time will eat any winnings you make.

2. someone who won't play unless they have a guaranteed sure win.

3. someone who'll squeeze a dollar 'til george's eyes pop out of the paper.
that guy's such a nit- he wouldn't bet a nickel that water's wet

Not to be confused with someone that doesn't bet on a pool game. Some players are not into gambling, period. They're not Nits. A Nit is somebody who won't get out of their chair to play for any amount of shekels unless they have the mortal nutz. If they're sweatin' and bettin', watch out. It's a trap. They're getting trapped or they're on the hunt. Either way, it'll be ugly.

Best,
Mike

Bad Action instantly comes to mind....

About 30+ yrs ago I sold office copiers, and had this one account that was HIGH maintenance, Over the Top, they lint picked you every chance they got. I never did sell them a new unit because there was always something ''not right'' with this or that. As I say, the Nit was in looking at ya in the mirror.

He's not the same guy peddling Vikings, and telling everyone how collectable they are and that you can sell them years later for a lot more money?

Craig, Darcy, Charlie, JohnnyT, your definitions fit the Nits I knew in the ‘60s and the ‘70s to a “T”. That terminology is definitely old school, used then, before, and now. They were Nits then and probably still are. Ahh, but I liked the ‘Fish’ better.
