Immutable Laws of Pool

Are there primary, general immutable laws of pool- laws which have no exceptions or variations? How many are there?

As a starter I nominate the following:

1. Inanimate objects are incapable of error.

There's one shot in pool, that if mastered, makes you un-beatable. What shot is this?
Your next shot.

If you dog the 9 ball, your opponent will win the next game before you get a shot. :p
Rod.

Well, maybe, but they are certainly capable of unexpected variation. I've seen lop-sided cue balls and seriously out-of-round object balls. And then there are skids. Not all misses can be fairly attributed to mistakes by the player.

when you are left with a difficult shot and decide to go balls out offense, you make the shot then get out of line and have another difficult shot aka one good shot deserves another

90% of the time your opponent won't have 50 dollars to their name. The other half of the time they don't have 20.
{Stolen from Yogi Berra}

When you come to a fork on the table, use it. You're a starving pool player for God's sake! --Yogi Mosconi

If you aren't sure whether to pocket the ball in the end or the side, you will hit the rail between the two alternatives.

If you concentrate really hard on hitting the object ball, you won't notice the interferring ball that you will actually hit.

Don't ever gamble with a guy nicknamed "weasel".

And one specifically for myself: if you accidentally touch a ball and your opponent says "just go ahead and move it back" you WILL miss your next shot. Every friggin time!

Put differently, pool players don't make mistakes. It is always equipment failure that is to blame. :cool:
