In The Market For A Franklin South West

Well

This is going to sound weird but if I was looking for an old Southwest, the one on here that was refinished (I know) with the yellow veneer, IMO is the best I have seen on here in a while.

I think it is priced right, (less than what I would take for mine).

It isnt mine, but I think it is a dandy.

Please check this one out. I will have it back from Laurie in about a week or so. I am pretty sure it will come back as an early Franklin Southwest.

I have one I bought in 1989 from a cue broker! In March 1990 I called Jerry Franklin too make me two new shafts, because the original ones were smaller than I liked. I mailed him the butt and both shafts and told him I would be in Las Vegas for the BCA Nationals in May. The cue broker knew Jerry and introduced us. He brought the cue and all four shafts. He said that he and David Kersenbrock made this cue for a well known young road player in the early 80's while David was teaching him too make cues (can't remember the players name). I wish I would have got an LOA from Jerry, but I wasn't thinking. I could get one from Laurie, obviously she can't list the information that Jerry had. The cue broker called me a few years back and asked if I wanted too sell the cue and I said not really. He called again and offered me $5,000. I knew if he offered me that much it was worth more. A month later he called and offered $10,000, now I know something is up. I paid him $1,000 for the cue in 1989, that would be a nice profit. I told him I would think about it. A few weeks passed by and I heard he was critically ill. Then a month or so later he passed away, now all the information on this cue is lost forever. About a year later I talked to another cue broker about the cue and he said he knew the original broker and he was working on a deal with an Asian collector for the cue for an extremely high amount. I have no way of knowing who the Asian collector is. It's funny how often we hold something valuable and never think about it until it's to late.

Good luck on your search!

Hey Folks, I am looking to buy a Franklin Era Southwest and I am ready to buy. I woud like to stay within my preferances please. An LOA will definately help the sale. You can PM or email me at john.ehle@kbr.com with price, pics and description. I have seen the ones on AZB right now but they do no meet my needs. I would like to find one as fast as possible so let's make a deal.

-Cue must be straigh together and apart.
-Cue must be 100% original. Never refinished or touched by anyone but Mr. Franklin.
-Two original shafts.
-Shaft diameters have to be as close to 13mm as possible.
-Wrap must be white with green, brown or black speck.
-Cue must be a Franklin era.
-Please no exotic nose cues. Maple nose preferred.

Now let's track down a South West

Thanks, John

John,
Sent you a PM.
