Incardona Fisher challenge match

I'd like to see this, what year and tournament was it? Does Accustats still have it in their catalog?

It was a twofer tape. Cardone beat Kim so fast that they combined it with another match in which Billy C also beat Sal Butera. It was the US Open either 89 or 90. Varner won it for his second US Open victory over Archer in the finals. I think Billy took fourth and played awesome. The win over Kim was picture perfect 9 ball as Buddy called it. He showed how you can stymie an offensive superior player with certain type safties. I have no idea if it is available......

A search on Incardona on the accu-stats site doesn't turn it up.

Thanks easy-e. Your right I don't get out much. Wife and kids. I do get to play in a pool league once a week.

<EDIT> Shades of Bobby Riggs/What's her name. Not a big tennis fan. .
Her name was Margaret Court (aka Margaret Court Smith), the #1 female tennis player at the time.

Sounds like a great match! Hope it pans out Billy, I'd love to see it.

I would be pulling for Allison though...;)

Billy's Ice fishing-

I don't have to think about it much. Billy withstood the test of time. He should be able to give her the 8 and the breaks easy! Your boring me billy- But watching the freezer at 500 a rack didn't bore me billy. What are you doing trying to recover your derby expenses. Does Allison get to use the sardo rack and spot the nine on the head spot? I'd still bet on billy. There shouldn't be a woman alive that can hold the stick with you-especially one-hole. Hey billy that was good with the tee shirt (collar) tv table deal. You look good all dressed up mark

This smells of Bobby Riggs vs. Billie Jean King.

Whadd-r-u trying to do Billy, put Allison in the history books for yet another acheivement? :D

this would be a great match and i think pretty even. someone needs to let allison know, i don't think she reads the forum.

but i hope this comes off!

I have...but I am reasonably sure she would decline.

1. If it is a "match" with added money...then I am quite sure she would need to get the WPBA to approve it. Otherwise, I don't think she can gamble outright.

2. 10 Ball is not her game...9 Ball is. I wonder how much Billy would bet to play her in a snooker match??

3. Race to 20 TOPS...maybe 2 sets with a tie breaker race to 10.

4. Alternate break.

5. Joint control of all video/broadcast rights.

Didn't Strickland's contract with Cuetec "forbid" him from gambling... I imagine Allison's would be similar.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see this match adn would love to see a win by you Billy, but I don't think it can happen do to her contract situation. If it does happen it can't be in the puclic eye like this or else it would get back to her sponsor one way or another, but when 2 big names like Incardona and Fisher are gonna play some, who isn't gonna hear about it?

I'd like to see this though, can anyone shed any light on the cuetec contract?

I don't know the details but I heard the same thing about Earl when he was sponsored by cuetec. Probably better to get this funded as a challenge match of some sort so it doesn't violate her contract. Billy is a strong player but if they play on a table with the same conditions as the women use on the women's tour then I like Allison.

I think this could be a very intresting match up.

Three months to get into shape??? Dam Bill, I hope I livethat long. I don't plan anything that far in advance.

But Bill, now you got to work hard and bring it home for us Guys. There is a lot at stake here.

Lewis hit it dead square....There IS a lot at stake here, but I like Bill's heart under battle conditions. Allison won't wilt either, so we'll know for sure who the better player is (on that day) because both have strong mental games that will help their strokes hold up with the pressure. This would be more important than Bobby Riggs vs Billie Joe King or any other cross gender match up (hope I said that right) because this is POOL!

Bill, I'm glad you love to be in action as much as you do. You keep coming up with novel ideas and new challenges for yourself, and that is inspiring!

I have every confidence that with your mindset and pool saviness, you would not have proposed something like this unless you really believe you would have a very respectful showing. You're not an attention hound, so we also know that you're serious about this coming to fruition.

I join the others here that really hope this comes off. How great would it be for Accu-Stats or TAR to cover it? And how much fun would it be to have Grady Mathews and Freddy Bentivegna in the booth!

It Will Never Happen

I would love to see this kick off. That being said, we have no chance to see it happen. Kudos to Billy for offering the challenge we all know he has heart, and has proved it time and again. The problem is not Cutec. Rather i dont think Allison will see it as a good opportunity as for she has nothing to gain. Sure you could make it a challenge match, charity event, or even no money involved and just play she still wouldnt do it. Look at it this way if she wins it will be said that she did not beat one of the top male players, if she loses........

At some point, players have to do for the sport or it will die. Here's my pitch. Three sets, races to five. alternate break. No safeties. All push out. The general public doesn't want to see safeties. The want to see pro's shoot aggressively and use their talents. Kinda like a ring game, but better. 30 second shot clock. I would even employ a kissing bandit to disrupt the proceedings at random. Okay, just kidding about that last part.

I don't think Allison will go for it either...but I know a few that probably will. K. Fisher, J. Lee, K. Corr, M. Webb, and Ga Young Kim, to name a few. I would like to see A. Fisher in the box with you too...but I really don't think she will. Johnnyt

It was Billy Jean-King that played Bobby Riggs.

LOVE it...and I'd lay 8/5 on the ladies.

Allison and Bill, 10 ball, winner breaks. You got me at 8 to 5. I'd like a couple of beans on that one, please.

Now that I see the names, it all comes back to me...

He beat Smith, then in a follow-up King beat him.
she played some old " queen " , not a real tennis player ......it would be like Allison matching up with a 4 in apa ............

as far as the current "challenge" , any male pro player would torture Allison .....
