......literally :(. It came today in the mail. Damn good thing they seal it in a plastic wrap because the darn thing had ZERO staples in it binding the pages together. It's a mess to read. Must be a cost-cutting thing at the publishing house ;). I knew times were getting tough in the industry, but DAMN !!!

Inside Pool

Wow, you actually got one! I have not gotten one in so long, i thought they were out of the print business and only doing onlinie stuff??????

Me too. I paid for a subscription at SBE and never got a single issue. When I called I got a runaround about it being the fault of the post office. Yet all my bills continue to arrive every month.

Can't remember the last time I got one. And when I do 90% is advertisements. :frown:

Wow............you actually got one, we bought subscription last year. We have so far received 2 copies thats because we bugged the sh*t out of them when nothing arrived for months. I guess after 2 issues in a row they thought...............oh well that'll satisfy them.

The magazine is a complete joke now anyway, there are two options as I see it.

1. Close their doors and stop stealing peoples money
2. Hire some people who have morals and a brain cell, even if
it's one brain cell between them, they can at least pass it around, that
would be better than the current regime

Pissed..............really you think!!

never missed a copy or had any bad copies of Billiards Digest, it is good read

The print media is taking a beating around the world, thanks to the iPads, Internet, and other vehicles that bring readers news almost immediately as it happens. Long-established and well-known newspapers that have been in existence for 40-plus years have gone under and closed their doors. :(

InsidePOOL magazine at its onset distinguished itself from the other print mags by spotlighting regional pool happenings in addition to professional pool events. Also, it provided a glimpse into pool's underbelly, a foresaken place that has often been neglected by the other print pool mags who traditionally write about its industry sponsors' darlings. Action and gambling was looked upon with disdain. As evidenced by this forum's threads topics, that is a mistake, IMO. People are interested in this aspect of pool as well as the blue-blooded industry sponsors' darlings. It is the industry sponsors who pay for advertising that keep the print pool mags afloat, though.

On a personal note, J.R. Calvert (publisher) and Sally (editor-in-chief) have always been strong advocates of bringing pool news to its readers. Though there are some who seem to want to believe that InsidePOOL is intentionally harming its readership by not following through on new subscriptions as well as the old, I don't believe this to be true. I think the print media is struggling, and they are no different.

I have heard from numerous pool peeps that J.R. is pouring his efforts into providing pool streams of various regional pool happenings. I applaud his efforts in doing so and wish InsidePOOL much success. These are good people, not bandits in the night. I hope they can find a way to keep InsidePOOL flourishing.

I did. My mother in law gave me a year subscription to Billiard Digest a few years ago. I received two issues the whole year. I sent numerous emails with no response. At the end of the year I received a renewal notice, lol. Apparently, they still knew my address well enough to send the bill.

I called and explained the situation and told them to take my name off and that I would not be renewing. The guy on the phone said ok and hung up. Didn't even attempt to keep me as a customer. I haven't bought an issue since.

Jam, I appreciate your support of Inside Pool's streaming. I also like streaming very much. But I do not find it honest to take peoples money for subscriptions and then not deliver the product. I was not asked to make a donation to streaming, I was asked to buy a product that I am being denied. Yes, the print media is taking a beating, but I get my Billiards Digest and my Pool & Billiard every month, right on schedule. Let's just get it out there - Inside Pool is stealing from people. And that is not going to ever meet with my approval, no matter what else they do.

I've never gotten the magazine but I've checked out the web site a few times and I don't like it. It's a bandwidth hog, poorly organized and sporadically updated.

I reupped at the Derby Last year. Seemed like a good deal. Got a free T shirt. This year I decided to let it run out. By the time I get it it is already old news and most and anything interesting seems to disappear.

One issue had Scott Frost writing a article, thought it was going to be a regular feature. His article wasn't in the next issue.

Use to be a feature about cue makers by Fred, haven't seen that in a few issues.

too bad

seems there's been these kinds of complaints about Inside Pool magazine on more than one instance in the past....I must've read similar posts on this forum 3-4 years ago......Surprised they're still around.......

You all can blame me for this one, I had to write them a letter to complain, the staples were cutting me when I wiped my ass with the magazine.

I agree to a point, what I will never agree with is what appears to be either blatant incompetence or theft.

If someone came to me and said 'I will charge you $$$ and then give you nothing for that because I am crap at what I do (and I'm not sure why) and want to concentrate on something else' guess what my answer would be? F*ck Off comes to mind. Sorry but thats how I feel with this crappy service!

First three years of my subscription to Inside Pool magazine was great. The last 1-1/2 years has been the worst customer service. Only received 5 issues in 18 months. I will never subscribe to this magazine again.

Good customer service or lack thereof seems to be a plight in the pool world these days. I read complaints quite often about people not receiving what they paid for. :frown:

Look, I would be totally pissed if I paid for anything and it did not arrive. I'd be rattling the wires to get my money back, and I'm like a pitbull with a bone when it comes to what's mine. ;)

I will always have a soft spot in my heart for InsidePOOL. When other print media thumbed their nose at gambling and action happenings, InsidePOOL almost seemed to embrace it, writing about all of the juicy details at the Derby City Classic, the Action Pit at the Super Billiards Expo, et cetera, et cetera. And, true to my heart, they gave a well-known road warrior an opportunity to share a few of his tales in a series of instructional articles in their magazine, when other magazines wouldn't dare to dirty their pages with such matters.

I recently read a thread where InsidePOOL has published a few matches from the recent Seminoles tourney at Snooker's to be available to watch for free for a specified period of time, and thereafter they will be 99 cents.

I totally do understand why there are some who may be angry about not receiving product, and I would be, too. My only point is I do not believe they are thieves in the night as some are potraying them to be. My personal opinion is that I believe the magazine may be running on fumes at the time of this writing, hoping to gain momentum and recover from this economy.

The upside...

...of Inside Pool is that yours truly does a monthly instructional page that actually teaches ya' somthin, and is not just a bunch of twaddle and pap.
