Inside pool magazine

When I moved 18 months ago, I left several messages with their subscription department and never received a call back. I had always been satisfied with them up to that point, but if they do not want my money, that's fine with me.

They post the magazine online for free by the 1st or 2nd of the month - http://issuu.com/insidepoolmag

There's no September issue posted yet, so I'm thinking this may be the real end for them.

I've read the stories about Inside Pool and always thought they were just incompetent. If they were at BCAPL taking money for new subscriptions knowing they would never produce another issue, that crosses the line from incompetence to fraud.

inside pool magazine

Lets bump this up and keep it going to let anyone who buys or has advertising space with them. Rich aka the skunk.

LOL I got a fun PM from Alvin, guess he didn't appreciate my take on his crappy commentating. Obviously a very professional organization to keep him on their payroll!

Perhaps you will get your wish Alvin, ya never know.

I have never seen JR or Alvin or anyone from insidepool post here.

Has anyone ?

The magazine took very bad turns imo.

Have not seen one in years.

It shrunk dramatically in size and

the content is 90% commercial.

Very close resemblance to junk mail.

I renew my subscription a few years ago at the SBE. I only did it because it came with a free T shirt that I only use when doing yard work. I very rarely read them and most are still in the plastic mailing sleeve. I found it is mostly ads, same BS in every issue and nothing new. Most tournaments results are published on line and I don't really care about the player of the month for the APA.

Where are you.....????? Haven't received my july, august, or september issues.Last one was may /june....???Called today numerous times and got a phone off the hook sound. Not a busy sound.Called 724 916 0537. If you can not send my magazines please refund my money. Sent to J R Calvert. Call me asap at 864 968 0033 or 864 351 9282 .Rich. Has anyone else had a problem ????Pisses me off already. I WANT MY BACK ISSUES OR MY MONEY BACK>

I've been having the same problems...

Originally, I did not receive my Dec 2009 & Jan 2010 issues. Because of renovations going on at my house, I did not notice it until ~1&1/2 years later. When I called at this point in time, the person answering the phones said she would look for the back issues and try to send them out IF they still had some. They did not. At least they were answering their phones in mid-2011. In October 2011, calls started going unanswered.

Now let's fast forward to the missing issue of Jul/Aug 2012. Not only did I try calling again, but I e-mailed them through their website and a "direct" e-mail that I had listed for them. When I tried calling them, I not only tried the subscription department, but I also tried the advertising department figuring that someone might answer that line or check that mailbox for possible income, but there was still no answer. Both departments fed into the same voicemail of the woman whom I had previously spoken to live (I recognized her voice). After many e-mails (through their website) and phone calls over a period of months, it became obvious that I was not going to get any kind of reply via e-mail or phone. It also seemed to me that that person was no longer working at Inside Pool.

Recently, I have not received my Jul/Aug 2013 and Sept issues. So I came here looking for a possible cause. I had previously started another thread in the "Wanted" forum hoping to obtain the other missing issues with no success. My subscription is not up for renewal until Oct 2013. Guess I won't be renewing.

For what it's worth, the 724 area code is SW Pennsylvania - it was derived when the 412 (Pittsburgh) area code ran out of numbers. I'm guessing that's JR's number since he's originally from that area. If I remember correctly, they moved their operations to one of the Carolinas years ago. The number that I have listed is 888-428-7665. I've known JR personally for many years before he started up with this magazine. I have seen and talked to him at many events over the years. I never expected him to ignore my phone calls. That pains me as much as the rest.

The last issue online at their website is the May/June 2012 issue - over a year ago. I suspect that their magazine has gone away. How can they keep their website going when they have let their magazine die off? Maybe (as someone else in this thread has already mentioned) if pressure is put on the advertisers (both print and online), then there can be some kind of outcome. I can understand a business having its problems, but just leaving everyone in the dark is not a good way to do business.

Dang guys....just go to the IP booth at DCC when renewing your subscriptions for the coming year and get all the back issues immediately!!;)

I have renewed every year at Derby but this one may be different...I have IP shirts avalable in all sizes now except for XL I normally wear...anyone need a XXXL?:D

Well, another month has gone by, and I've received the October issues of my Billiards Digest and Pool & Billiards magazines. So another missing issue of Inside Pool goes undelivered.

Their website is being updated with maybe 1-2 articles per week.

On their online site - http://issuu.com/insidepoolmag - no issues for September or October have been published. The only document uploaded in the last 2 months appears to be the comp plan for a pyramid scheme.
