For a personal website, this is about the most interesting one I
have run across. It is all about Pool with good illustrations and
several good shot movies to watch. A little bit of everything,
all pretty interesting.

Yeah, that guy is great. Dave Stitz or something like that? Somebody on the other board posted his link a couple years ago.

I love the one called "spot shot draw", but I can't come close to doing it.

I'd like to see him compete. Too bad he's got a real job.

You don't suck. I love your site, which I first read several years ago when I started getting into Pool. Anyone who steps up and plays in a big pro tournament like the DCC gets my respect regardless if they win or not. I'm not sure I could even hold my cue straight in such an atmosphere.

Oh, and I noticed you didn't have any Trois Pistoles on your beer list. You may want to check it out if you like dark Ales.
 
That's a beer I've never had. I'll be sure to try it if I ever see it. I've had their fin du monde and liked it okay.

Regarding my suckage: I've often been accused of underestimating my abilities. I know that this is a problem for me, and I've learned to live with it.

Suckage is a relative term. Compared to your basic bar-banger, I guess I'm a pretty good player. Compared to the players at the DCC, well, I'm not such hot stuff anymore.

I guess the main thing I've got going for me is that I don't get nervous in situations like the DCC. Neither, unfortunately, do I ever quite reach my full potential. It's still fun though. That's why we all keep doing it I suppose.
 
Yes, "suckage" is relative of course, but every Pro in the world misses shots as well, so look at it this way - Pros suck too, but they suck just a little bit less than you do.

I enjoyed your site; it seems you are a true pool fanatic (not enough of us around here). If you ever feel like a trip to Indy (where the heck is Georgetown anyway?), let me know - it might be a good way to get ready for DCC. I'm not a bank or 9-ball specialist, but I can rack the balls with the best of them (I can provide the beer as well).

one of the influences that got me to do my site.

The Recipe is a process, simply used by anyone, to control a shot, a game, a match, a session, a season, a journey, and a lifetime of pool.

I developed it from about 1987 to 1997...actually it is dynamic, so I'm always, and still, developing it. That's one of it powers, never-ending growth.

I had so much built up for myself, that I decided to put it into a form that others could use, too. I ended up with a workbook that is over 300 hundred pages. Any player can use it to improve....even pros. One of the unique features of this pool book is it doesn't have even one diagram of a pool table shot. It doesn't teach how to stroke or any of the other stuff that the other books repeat and repeat and repeat. It is unique and I call it the missing link in pooldom.

Here's from the Preface:

Most pool instruction books tell you how to shoot pool. The Recipe tells you how to use pool to become happier. And the best part is, you will shoot better pool, too. In fact, if it leads you to happiness, you will shoot excellent pool.

That's right, The Recipe is not really about pool! Yet, it will enable you to become the best pool player you possibly can. How can this be?

The Recipe is used as a metaphor for how to eliminate irrationality from your life. Irrationality is the sickness; The Recipe is the cure. Irrationality is why you miss shots and why successes miss you. By eliminating irrationality, you eliminate mistakes---in pool and in life. You begin to make shots and achieve successes that snookered you before. As The Recipe brings you success in pool, it also brings you success in life. With its principles, you capture control of reality.

To benefit from The Recipe, you'd better be committed to honestly facing your mistakes. Only then can mistakes be integrated to build more powerful ingredients in your recipe. Only then can you become what's necessary to succeed.
