is coming to an end soon. Many of you have responded to my offer of a $300 cue that I believe will improve your game because it was not only designed with ideas I picked up over 50 years of playing and conversations in private with the greatest cue makers the game has ever known but also after the CLEANESS OF THEORY MET THE MESS OF REALITY. My first few cues exceeded my expectations. I had a cue that enabled me to play a whole lot better. At first I invited others to test hit it, and after about 25 favorable replies I assumed it was the cue and not just me. But I decided to test the cue with total strangers in order to get their responses. The first two sold out and will be in the hands of buyers by Monday. Another group will be recieving cues within 2 months.
WHY,you might ask am I doing this? You do the math I had an engineer in Dallas who happens to be a "pool nut" spend hours making these PROTOTYPES at a cost that makes little or no profit, so therefore what was the motivation?
Our plan is very simple, FIRST, I PROVE to you that we can make a cue that plays better. SECOND, we are already preparing to make what will be the best cue ever ( AT LEAST IN OUR OPINION) and they won't be cheap. We plan to make 30 cues a year of the finest materials and design available. The cues will be initially sent with at least 4 different shafts of different tapers, ferrules, and tips for the new owners to try. When he has chosen which ones HE likes, we then provide him with new shafts that meet his specifications so that he has a cue that is truly customized .
The cues will start around $1500 for full spice with colors, fully AMERICAN made, and with a quality much better than any blanks we have seen.
Our traditional cue will feature only sharp points, sharp inlays, mitred veneers, traditional designs and some very innovative theme cues with hand scrimshaw work.
Some of you seem to think that the little $300 cues will become collectibles because of all the excitement and all. If so, that would be a hoot.
I am going to accept new orders on a few more $300 cues (ONE TO A CUSTOMER). You still send no money until the cues are ready. It might be 3 months. No more prototypes will be available after January 15.
These first few are made to test the hit. The quality of finish, detail, and shaftwood is not the same or should you expect it to be as what you expect in a custom cue like we will be making soon.
Deano Number 1 will be going to the famous Glen Family collection in Houston (they already have 2 of the prototypes), and if any one else wants to stick his neck out and order a "PIG IN A POKE" I will take orders on Deano custom cue numbers 2 through 5.
It has been a pleasure talking with those of you who called and responded to the threads. I look forward to responses .
You can expect pictures of our first custom cues in February.
REMEMBER: NOTHING HITS LIKE A DEANO!
