IPT- What I Have Been Told

Earlier this afternoon, I received one of several long awaited phone calls with information regarding the status of the IPT.

I am going to state that this information is hearsay to me, because it is, but seems to be valid, and from several very good sources. This information is not meant in anyway what so ever to harm the IPT, it is meant to be helpful information because for whatever reason, the IPT makes statements that information is coming and then it is for not.
I do not know any of this to be a fact, and as I write this, I am shaking my head in disbelief on exactly how to relay in both a positive productive way..

From what I am told, the deal with HO is off. Again, I must reiterate that I have heard this to be hearsay, so I am asking you all to remember this. I am not saying I personally know this to be proof, I am just relaying what I was told by several good sources.

Apparently, the so called unsigned deal with HO and Trudeau was based upon Poker/Internet gaming as a part of the deal. The United States carries 80% world wide of the Internet gaming up till last week when President Bush signed a law into effect against Internet gaming. So, I guess The President of the United States is the cooperate, and the deal breaker. ;)

It is also rumored that there is a standing hatred between Stanley Ho and Steve Wynn. Apparently, Wynn moved one of his properties into Ho's territory some time back and killed a lot of his action, along with offering better placements for employees at his new casino. Ho lost a lot of good employees to Wynn and the feud was ignited. I was told that Ho made it clear to Trudeau that he would have nothing to do with him if Wynn was involved....

This now brings me to the $1,000,000 IPT "King Of The Hill" Invitational 8- Ball Shootout in Las Vegas on December 12-17th, 2006 at The Wynn in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Rumor has it that certain people are scurrying around trying to make room for this event to be piggybacked at Chicago in the November/December Tournament. Unfortunately, this is where I was told that the players would get paid from the Reno event, but it would not be until Chicago. Apparently with Ho bailing (again hearsay) the funds have dried up leaving the IPT in arrears of over $3,000,000. I asked what guarantees would there be that there would be money awaiting for the players in Chicago, but my contact said there was no guarantee and that it could indeed be another stall tactic.

In the recent letter From Mr. Trudeau, it was interesting to see that Mr. Trudeau addressed my question directed to Mr. Andrews regarding Mr. Trudeau making good by the players until the situation with Mr. Ho was resolved. Mr. Trudeau stated "I wish it were as easy as me paying players myself, but this is legally unacceptable at this time"

Now what exactly is that supposed to mean? I am wondering if it meant not "legally unacceptable" but financially unacceptable? Mr. Trudeau also states that he invested over 10 Million into this event. If this is indeed true, maybe Mr. Trudeau has decided to cut his losses? 10 Million is a lot to loose even the richest.

I was also amazed to see such a "run on paragraph" (no paragraph breaks), was presented by Mr. Trudeau. I am questioning the authenticity of this letter because it would seem that Mr. Trudeau would employ a over qualified personal assistant/secretary to address such issues as this. Again, I mean no disrespect to Mr. Trudeau, but this letter really went around in circles and said nothing but, you are going to get paid, we don't know when, and when that happens, you will get a prize for being so patient. That seemed very condescending.

What has been relayed to me by some of the players who are owed money, is that they really need this money. Mr. Trudeau is flying around Europe, and it is related that he cannot be reached, while more than 20 of the players are trying to find their way back from Reno unpaid with little to no recourses. Now they are being asked to wait longer, while Mr. Trudeau continues to live lavishly and they continue to scrape money up for necessaries. I am a bit perplexed and sad with this..

With Trudeau paying out over $900,000 to The Venetian Hotel and Casino in Vegas and THIS is where a lot of the funds went, and then Trudeau then figuring out all of the hidden costs, he relocated to Reno. Now, we will see what Chicago brings.

So with this being said, there are not winners yet. Especially, Mr. Andrews who I feel will have lost the most.

My personal opinion is that Deno is in a no win situation. He depends on the success of the IPT to support his family, so his livelihood and his reputation is at stake at this.

I want to believe that Deno is just as upset about this latest glitch for all of the factors I have just mentioned. He is and always has been passionate about this sport, and I am sure that he is past embarrassed with all of the excuses that have been given. I really think that it must be extremely difficult for Mr. Andrews, because we are his peers, and Mr. Trudeau could just bail at anytime and be done with it.

I will end this again by stating that I sincerely wish the best for all involved, and I hope that the IPT can pull a rabbit out of a hat.

Thanks, Eydie. It's not much, but it's information. The "wait and see" point has been kicked out a couple more days, but the shape things are taking doesn't look bullish.

???

Eydie, you've probably already seen it, but the new announcement just posted says the "deal" will be finalized within the next few days.....Here we go again.............

Its a complete absurdity! Thanks for the post Edie. I know you qualified what you heard. Mike H. just posted a communication from the IPT founder, allegedly forwarded from an IPT player, that has completely opposing information!

Well,

I know for a fact that the IPT has been trying to extend the Chicago dates. Until now I had no idea why they would do that. However, trying to add the King of The Hill onto the regular Chicago event makes complete sense.

Poor poor Deno. Sorry Edyie, somehow I don't feel too bad for this guy. He knew who he was getting in bed with. As for master KT, I don't believe he was ever nearly as wealthy as he claimed. The players aren't paid because he hasn't got it. It's that simple. He may have a few Mil left, but he won't let himself go broke paying off the poolpayers, that's for sure.

He is probably in Europe looking for his next sucker. That seems to be what he does best.

Edyie...<<From what I am told, the deal with HO is off.>> My questions is whether there was ever any credible source stating that there ever were any serious negotiations with Ho...except from the IPT itself?????

GENO/JASPER,

This is spinning out of control....this will not pacify the nay-sayers and doommongers...your services are needed at once!!!

*shrug* --- the more obvious and inevitable it gets, the less fun it becomes. When it's like a political argument, you feel like it could just go round in circles forever, and the prognosticating and analysis are fine sport. But as the writing on the wall turns to glowing neon, you're left with only one meaningful thing --- people who need cash aren't getting paid.

Maybe we need to shine the Bat symbol into the night sky and wait for BATMAN to catch the crooks....

I was wondering the same thing!

Eydie,

Any thoughts on how to reconcile what you've heard with what Mike posted?

Maybe the deal with Ho went bust in the view of the source, but KT isn't giving up on it and trying to buy some time with the players? I don't know.

Awsome job though!!!!

IPT public relations brainstorming session:

"We're in talks to sell the IPT to, uh....Halliburton....uh, no no, uh George Soros....nah.....uh.....dammit who is rich famous and won't notice?.....Hmmm....how about a Malaysian, no no, Japanese mogul....No WAIT! Chinese, yeah, yeah CHINESE casino magnate....THAT's the ticket...and we'll sell it for 50 million....no! 75 million.....no double it! 150 million dollars...and the negotiations are long, and complex, and the little people will believe anything we say, because we can baffle them jargon, and convince them it's all too complicated for their little pool room brains.....THAT'S THE TICKET...."

what is true and what is not?

Well, if what Eydie reported is true, that means KT is lying about the Ho deal about to be finalized, doesn't it? Boy, then if KT finds out someone is leaking this information out of the IPT .....what next?

Well technically KT said the documents "should" be executed. What should happen and what will happen have two different meanings. Yeah it's still bs, but whatever. There has to be a reason there's such a disparity between the two statements. We know Edyie isn't feeding us any bull.

Actually on second thought, I withdraw my question to Edyie. She might get tangled into something if she's not careful.

:) Far and away your best and most poignant post to date Jasper, excellent work:)

Of course the deal is off. I doubt it went much further than Ho showing an interest; if it even went that far. How long can KT and the Sunshine Band keep up the charade? Are they going to let you all know that it's down the toilet on Friday or are they going to tell you that they can't finalize the deal over the weekend so you'll be receiving another announcement next week? :)

Does anyone here have a legal background? I'm not talking about the know-it-alls who think they might know something about the law. I mean, seriously, is there really someone here with a legal background? If so, my question is, do the players have a potential class action suit here? Not knowing anything about the law, I would suspect that they do. I would certainly think that the players could take the IPT to court individually.

Seriously, guys. Patience should be running out here. If you feel like there is some sort of chance of getting paid, wait a little longer, but, at the very least, I'd be seeking some sort of legal advice right now so I'd be ready when the final word came in that I'm getting screwed. What are the legalities if the IPT files bankruptcy? I'd try to get a judgement for my money before that happened. Maybe he's just stalling you guys until the bankruptcy is finalized. Maybe it isn't the fictitious "merger" at all (for $150M USD! Hah! That's my favorite part of the story!). At any rate, if I were one of the ones who was owed money, I'd be looking at what legal options, if any, that I had at the moment. You've been lied to AT LEAST once now when he told you that you weren't getting paid because the checkbook didn't make it to Reno in time. That was an obvious lie, otherwise the IPT could have paid you immediately after the whole checkbook thing was sorted out. It's been a month. KT DOES have his checkbook now. Only, now, he's feeding you a completely different load of crap. Now it isn't the checkbook at all! I'm just saying, don't wait for these guys to ride off into the sunset with your money. Seek some legal advice now just in case.

I have dealt with quite a few rich buisness owners while working in the garment district. When they delayed payment, it always ended up bad. They would file bankrupcy, open up a new company under a diffrent name and everyone got screwed. Unfortunately this was my first impression when the pool player payments were delayed.

Someone needs to give Harry Platis, the poolplaying lawyer from Washington state a call. He may not be a bankruptcy type lawyer, but I'd lay $100 to a donut he's pissed about this IPT thing if he knows about it.

If ANYone will give the poolplayers good advice, it will be Harry.
