just saw the thread about centenial balls are $400
aramith pro is in the $260 RANGE
most played on table in tournaments is diamond not Brunswick (imho)
is brunswick a second class citizen now for sure??

Pool has been a tiny blip on Brunswick's business radar for a long long time.

They are high quality and they will hold value. Anything with the brunswick name or trademark on it will be pricey.

Brunswick still makes very solid tables - especially the Gold Crowns and many of their upper-end tables.

Tiny part of their overall business with practically zero development costs anymore...and lumped into the same part of the company that makes air hockey tables.

Yes, very much so as far as pocket billiards goes, IMO. Their Chinese made tables suck badly and have serious quality issues. It's the same selling off of a once great USA made brand like Porter Cable, Skil, etc. These brand names used to imply quality of manufacture but not any more. Martin

Bowling is being sold off to AMF last I heard. They are primarily a large power boat builder and have been for decades. Pool is a tiny sliver at this point. I doubt it's 1%?

Brunswick bowling division and AMF billiards and bowling both have been purchased by bowlmor.
Will bowlmor bring back the house of loards pool table!?

You see GC's in overseas tournaments but in the U.S. tournament pool is pretty much a Diamond deal. If it wasn't for Diamond pool in the U.S. would be in the grave instead of just on life-support.

If I wanted a Solid Work Bench, I'd buy a Diamond.

For Pool, I will stick with Brunswick Gold Crowns.

We know that a Gold Crown will last for over 50+ years if taken care of by a good mechanic. Let's see how long Diamonds last. I'll take a nice tight GC everytime. Diamonds are great tables also. Johnnyt

It's sad that Brunswick doesn't seem to give a damn about pool anymore. I have always preferred GC's & probably always will. Diamonds? Mehhhhh. They're beautiful tables but have never liked the way their rails play. Give me a GC with a set of centennials over a Diamond with a set of Cyclop balls any day. With Brunswick's seemingly being indifferent about billiards anymore we are left with the latter, it's a shame.

Brunswick a Dying Dinosaur?

I can't agree with you more, give me a classic Brunswick Gold Crown, Anniversary or Centennial table with a set of Centennial balls, man it just feels so good!

I have owned an Anniversary table for 22+ years now, built in the early 50's which makes it 60+ years old, still is solid as a rock and play lights out the day it was installed, fortunately I was lucky to get a table from the original owner, it never lived in a pool hall.

I don't think Brunswick will go away, if so someone will continue with the Brunswick name, there are too many tables still out there, they are still being rebuilt and restored better than the day they were built, methods and technology have improved the playability of pool tables.

Take the Corvette, when the US auto industry was dying, GM was seriously thinking of dropping the Corvette, it never happened, look at the Corvette now.

Recently Brunswick reached out to designers to think out of the box to help design / develop the next generation GC VI, someone back at the store has to be looking at the future.

Do you really think 60+ years from now someone would want to restore the "Other" tables out there?

Happy New Year,

Sort of. Speaking as some one who has owned and played on both, and more, I can
only say that players who rate Gold Crowns at the top of the heap, must have never
played on an Anniversary or the higher end Centennial. Even the Sport King and
Sportsman entry level tables played better than any Gold Crown.

But as Martin pointed out, those days are LONG gone.

Well, we don't actually know that a gold crown will make it to age 100, as brunswick introduced them in 1961. I have seen many, many of them used and abused over the years, so it is my personal experience that they don't hold up too well, especially the laminate rails.

But that is just my experience.

Here's Brunswick's timeline for reference:

And yes, the anniversary is great.

I am fortunate indeed...The Cue ball in Salem, Oregon has nothing but Centennial and Anniversary 9' tables. Also a heated 3 cushion table and a snooker table. A heavenly sight to behold. :)

Color me green with envy.
Checked them out Facebook... Green cloth - what a concept.

All I want to know is: do you have a spare room? :)
