Is Charlie Williams the most powerful man in pro-pool?

My case of the ass with Bonus Ball just comes from the perspective of someone who does stuff on a shoestring budget and has to pretty much eat what I kill. I see a tremendous amount of resources and time being completely pissed away and it just tilts me. The kind of soft sell argument that people who are not 100% behind bonus ball are somehow against the players making money is simply bullshit. Also...its not like Bonus Ball is paying the players that much money anyway when its all said done. A couple teams will make a good score. Everyone else will average out to about a $25 an hour job. Before taxes. There are so many players involved all that money gets spread thin.

No one is against someone putting a bunch of money into pool and trying something. What people are against is getting jerked around for a year and told how if they dont believe in the dream they are against the players. At least I am against that. I am also against being called childish for looking at something based on experience in the industry it is trying to get into. I have yet to hear a single person not drawing a Bonus Ball check say "Man I really think this thing has a chance to do something." Actually I have yet to hear anyone who IS drawing a check tell me honestly one on one the same thing.

Bottom line BB is not going to work. You know it, I know it, the players know it. If the thing was run properly then ok maybe it has an outside shot but its not. Hell now the guy who calls himself the VP is officially on the outside of the tent pissing in talking about lawyers and courts. If you stepped back and looked at it with an unbiased critical eye at the track record of performance and decisions made so far you tell me honestly that you think it has a legitimate prayer to work.
I have seen many people on the forum who believe in and are rooting for Bonus Ball so I think you might be overlooking some post. There are people also who think its a joke, a waste of money, will not succeed and all types of negative stuff and they are entitled to their opinion too. Do not get me wrong, I cannot say I agree with everything that people do and that includes Bonus Ball but I feel the picture is much bigger then those on the outside of the tent see which includes most on the forum who would like to think they know all that is going on in pool even behind the scenes.

If I was on the outside I would be skeptical too but I see most of the pieces of the puzzle coming together with it and the whole picture actually looks very good. Perhaps there is an ace in the hole for Bonus Ball that will solve that problem that everyone is speaking of, how it will make any money to support it is what befuddles people. Just because people do not know the answer to the problem does not mean the answer is not already there.

I had my doubts about Bonus Ball initially but after sitting down in a room with Larry and the players I was sold because it was different then everything done before which means it might actually succeed and not fail like things done in the past. I know people are pissed off about the delays and how it affects scheduling but these things were not done purposely to cause grief to others in the industry at all. Personally I would like to see all the people in pool work together but its not possible and never will be, its just the way the world is sadly.

I think about Greg Sullivan and wonder where we would be without the DCC.

It really has replaced Johnston City, and US OPEN.

He added the event in Tunica and the rumors are adding in other Horseshoe locations (Vegas and others).

To me, Greg and Allen Hopkins would be on the top of the list.

Followed by the APA...(I know, I know). But no one can deny they have brought in alot of players that would normally never play. That cant be bad.

Yes the APA is often overlooked and scoffed at on here, I wish they would do more for pro pool but they certainly have something successful in the pool industry and make a bunch of money. Greg Sullivan does a great event and having games like one pocket and banks which are so uncommon and also 9 ball which is supposedly being killed off in favor of 10 ball is pretty cool stuff.

I sometimes think that a person's opinion on such matters, to include the infamous "Who's the Best" threads, is regional, i.e., based on geographic location. It also could be demographics, age, experience in pool, et cetera.

That is very true, the south love Greg, the northeast love Hopkins and Zuglan and the west coast has Mark Griffin.

I standby to be amazed by the ace in the hole no one knows about or can see. Any idea on a new launch date for this juggernaut ?

My personal feelings right now on BB are this. I hope it does very well and works out for everyone concerned. Having said that its hard to not be negative toward it for this reason. I am not a rich man, in fact not even close and what I do with tours, special events etc is how I make money. As much as I love the game I still have to make money as little as it is. So I have to schedule my tours and events around regional league tourneys, qualifiyers, pro tourneys and pro players personal lives. This isn't easy to do and so when we throw in another event that is going to take up alot of time and alot of players it affects me. Now I have become accustom to working around schedules and I am fime with it if I can see its for the good of the game and all concerned. Where I do have a problem is working around events, cancelling tours, cancelling challenge matches and then hearing a week or so before that the event I scheduled around isn't going to happen. So I lose the chance of an event to find that it has been rescheduled for two months out. and then it does not happen again.
I understand that the people at BB are not trying to make these delays happen but all the same they are happening and being selfish here it affects me personally and thats why its hard for me anyway to not have a little bad taste in my mouth.

In the words of Mark Griffin, its secret stuff, haha. No idea on a new launch date but one might be announced later this week or next.

Totally understood Mark, I think this date being announced will be 100% this time though.

If I knew I was gonna be on my toes this much I would have joined the ballet instead of doing pool :)

Not a bad idea. :p

BB has seriously impacted Mark's life. He is being remarkably chill about it.

You really think getting photoshops is the right move ?

I can do some.

Yes because I know Mark and I am just having some fun with him, I doubt he will be pissed off about it.

Mark, believe me I wish you nothing but success. We have had our ups and downs in the past but feel we both see eye to eye on many things over our long phone calls in the past. I do hope somehow the players become even more valuable and you can make more money with those guys doing your tour down the road.
