Is it straight?

Would you consider a cue that is 35 yrs old straight if the butt rolled deadnuts perfect and the shaft had about 1/32-1/64” or roll to it? Personally, once a cue is a certain age, it should almost be expected that something is a little off. Not talking about a bounce. Just a variance in light if you really get down on it and examine it. Just curious.

Well I and many other makers have never seen if maybe one or two shafts indicate at ZERO T.I.R.......used closet queens to whatever.

That theoretical cue you describe is straight as hell and anyone complaining about missing with it just has a piss poor stroke/aim/alignment pick one.

It’s a good excuse for a player tho....cues fault and all that hot mess.

I’ll put it to you this way if I can roll a cue with the butt on table and joint just above rail....if the tip doesn’t wobble out more than a tip diameter, that’s actually end to end pretty dam straight and the tip always goes back to where you want it to

You ain't lying! Take that 2 piece away and make them play with a house cue, they're whipped before the game ever starts. The excuses are already rolling, if you could see in their head.
I'm not talking about Jack Hines here, but the average player now days.

Those specs are more straight than 90% of the cues listed on here for sale. It’s similar to the 13mm shaft move, if a guy plays with a 12 mm shaft and likes a cue but it’s got a 12.3 mm shaft he’s more than likely gonna knock it for not being close to 13 mm...just a bargaining factor

I agree with everyone else....that's a straight cue.

Myself, I never take measurements. If I play a few racks with a cue and I cannot tell if it's dead nuts straight or not, then as far as I'm concerned it's straight.

I would just put in the ad what the condition in, calling it straight is probably accurate, but why have to deal with the buyers remorse excuse of saying it isn't. I've had a bunch of cues, that people claimed were straight, that when I sold them in the same condition I listed the shaft as having a little roll. Most shafts do, and it isn't a big deal.

Some shafts will exhibit some variances in the daylight you can see under the shaft when you roll it across the table when connected to the butt, but seem to roll perfectly fine when you disconnect it from the butt and roll it by itself. I would not consider that a warped shaft, but just something related to the taper.

If you can eyeball down the entire cue (butt and shaft screwed together) like aiming a rifle, with the cue butt right up to your dominant eye, and slowly rotate the cue and you absolutely don't see any bend to the left or right down the shaft towards the tip as you are rotating it, I would consider that a good, unwarped shaft.

I didn’t notice the slight roll when I first got it. It is a Meucci that is 35yrs old. I have it for sale right now. Had worked a deal with them, told them that the cue was straight and he makes me an offer to buy it. Then he says that he has heard of Meuccis that have warped. I tell him I will go to the pool hall and get a video of the cue rolling and send it to him if he would commit to buying the cue. This is at 10pm last night. He tells me to send him the vid. I get dressed, drive up there and shoot the vid. He then responds “thanks but I will pass.” I was pissed to say the least. Just think that the person is being a supreme nit about it. I mean how many dead nuts perfectly rolling shafts that are +30 yrs old do you ever see? Much less, a Meucci.
