I know he has a bad rap for his antics at times. I have not always been his biggest fan. But i have always respected his game. And right now I would have a hard time saying anyone is playing better pool than Mika. So the question is, Is Mika the best in the world right now?
 
Mika is the best this month. Next month it will probably someone else. They are so close at the top 10-15 right now that it's a coin toss each tournament IMO. Johnnyt

Boy Howdy! Well said! Nobody really dominates, like Mosconi did.
 
Since 2008 Mika is amazingly constant. It seems that he s living like a professional should do and working on his abilities all the time. He s super-fit and finally it seems also that he s mentally grown, too.
Atm he s imO the player you have to win in each tournament.
I m for sure no absolutley Immonen-Fan. But the last 2 years he presented himself like a real champion and that he deserves it.
 
I'd have to say that Darren Appleton is the best right now. Dennis Orcullo is right up there as well.

Mika is right on their heels, but Darren especially has been nearly unstoppable in the last 6 months.

I will however predict that Mika's recent win will recharge his confidence, and that he'll start snapping off events again like he did in 2008 and 2009.

I think in a money match, Dennis Hatch is the best in the world next to, Efren. Mika, has an impressive game, but in the long run, Hatch and Reyes are far superior.
 
He might be one of the best tournament players right now along with Appleton and Orcullo. He seems to thrive in a short set format, but in a long challenge match situation like a TAR match he may not even be in the top 10. There are quite a few I'd take over him there: Orcullo, Yang, SVB, Wu, Appleton, Hatch, Bustamante, Pagulayan, Morris, Alcano and Souquet.
 
If you were going to create the perfect international tournament player from scratch he would look a lot like Mika.

What he has done over the last several years in international competition has in my mind never been equaled. When it comes to big tournaments IMO he has been the best for a few years now.
 
Mika is the best he plays from NYC. NYC players are the best.

So everybody can be in on the Mika Story- get the triolgy cd's. I have been watching and learning. mark Some don't know but Nathan Has the inside story/

I have to agree with you Johnnyt, there is not a big difference of the top 30 player's % wise in the World of one's ability's at pool right now playing 8,9 & 10 ball, because until you play winner break's again in major tournaments in 8, 9 & 10 ball you won't see much difference in their play.

Alternate breaks has "KILLED" the audience' enthusiasm for pool, who want's to watch a guy run one rack at a time on his break, I want to see a player run several racks in a row, not one rack at a time for who is the " Dominant Player!"

At one time in pool we used to hear about how many racks ,so and so ran, everyone had talk upon their lips, now it is just, so and so won a match,/or the tournament/ not much talk about their exempalry runs of 5 or 8 racks in a row!, not much excitement at all these days, and this is What Pool Needs!.........EXCETIMENT!!!!!!!!!!!
so until there is a change ........ this is what we have.....IMHO

Is Mika the best in the World, I would say yes, because he has adapted to the altenaing break, and made his own!
