I guess you could call this a feeler to see how many might be interested in a full splice jig ? please post your thoughts here ok.........lee

I think you would sell quite alot of jigs as long as they produced the goods. Even if the price were a little on the high side. It would be awesome to be able to make you own fullsplices out of any wood combo you want and use highly figured wood as well. Blanks cost from $30-$150 and your never sure of the figure or quality your going to be getting. Now make one that can do veneers and you will sell them like hot cakes. Just my 2 cents.

Lee, I think their would be an interest if it could be done on a table saw or band saw. Cutting the V groves for the forearm is not such a problem as cutting the prongs on the butt piece. I have tried it a few times on the band saw and was not happy at all with the results I got.
It would be nice to be able to make them without a large investment in equipment.
Good house cue are starting to become scarce since Valley and Duffern stopped making them.

I say ... GO for it Lee ... Lets see what you can come up with.

Jig

I tried making a jig for my bandsaw and didn't get real good results either. I haven't tried building one for my table say yet, but had planned to. I'd be interested in saving my time by buying one if I didn't have to buy any additional machinery, like someone else mentioned.

Masonh you should build them for under $75.00 may be you could ask 40.00?? this jig to build would take quite a few hours . so at $3.00 hr labor rate you could even drop yours to $30.00 that would buy you 2 cases of beer not bad for a weekends work. why didn't i think of that?
another someone looking for something for nothing. allot of those out there.

Two cases of beer ... now you got my attention!
That would last me a weekend and then some.

Many times someone has called for a re-tip and asked "how much?"
Many times I have said $10 or bring a 6 pack of cold Shinner Bock!

Some of my favorite things are doing cue work, playing pool, and fishing.
Drinking a cold beer seems to go with all of them very well. (in moderation)

Lee: You and I both know that when it comes to tooling you get what you pay for. Build your jig, build it right, charge a fair price and it will sell. Cheap tooling
is no bargain for either the seller or the buyer. I wish you good luck in your endeavors.

Hey Lee at least you haven't lost your sense of humor! I'd like to see what you come up with. I would assume the point length is dicatated by the jig unless the angles are adjustable. Would 11" length veneers work okay?

Scott sold it to you for $75 last week and he told me that they were very easy to build.he told me to get with you that you were making some to re-sell at a reasonable price and i said,"no Lee will make it and charge double."wow,i must be psychic.

dont' worry Lee i will pass on it even at $75 from you.i have seen your products before.it will be half the quality of original and double the price.

Jig works great

I built three cues with the jig. Two with veneeres and one without. The jig will take a little practice but it's simple to use. In an 8 hour day I bet a builder could build ten non veneered full splice cues.
This is the only picture I could find of cue built by the jig.

The point length can be changed by the angle of the slides. Lee could build a few different slides and a builder could choose the length of the points. The thinner the saw blade the sharper the rear points will be. The non veneered cue I built had sharp points in both directions like Prathers. Too much work to do that again.
