Is This Acceptable Condition for a Custom Cue at $195

I posted this elsewhere, but this cue was 150 bucks. It's flawless as far as I can tell. Not very fancy, but it's proof that you can get a decent cue without breaking the bank. No matter how cheap, I wouldn't accept a cue with dings in the finish and poor fitting parts. Just my .02. :)

But did you ask the seller on the wear and tear and whether it has any dins/dents/defects on that cue which was advertised as used? If you did and got misleading info, then it is clearly unacceptable. It's definitely not too much to expect more for a $195 cue though.

For what it's worth, you could run a check on the terms full spliced blanks under the seller's ID cuemaster98.

Hi, I didn't thought of that..
I am newbie in buying/selling forum.
Thank You, in future, I will ask these questions.

Thank You for your advices !

Get a Refund

You're not happy with it. Send it back and get a refund, then save some more money and get a better quality cue. Sheesh, Bob Owen of Shurtz Custom Cues makes an entry custom for $250, and he does real good work.

You obviously did not do enough research and exploring your options before buying.

Used or not that cue is JUNK. you would have been better off buying a Lucasi Sneaky Pete, FAR better FIT AND FINISH. Send that one back, I would..

Dear Yeo,

I'm sorry to say this but the $99 cue I bought from Bill Dominiak is ten times better than the piece of firewood you got....

There was one item you left out. Does the cue hit the ball well? Does it send the cue ball where you want? Does it pocket balls?

If the answer is yes to those questions, the cue is worth far more than $195, even if it looks like it's been through a war.

good point

Good Point! I would rather pay $1000 for a pool cue that worked well for me that looked like somebody had been hammering nails with the butt than $100 for a great looking cue that didn't shoot for me.

Reading the seller's advertising information that was posted after my last post, it does appear that buyers were well warned what to expect as far as the quality of the stick, at least if you are fluent in "used car salesman" dialect. The seller worded things where the buyer could build his own image and the buyer expected more than he got. Both are somewhat at fault but the buyer should have the option of sending the stick back in the same condition he received it for a full refund less shipping. If the seller is inclined he might refund shipping.

...Excepting the ding, that's about what I'd expect. Any custom cuemaker charging $195 for that type cue..I am not going to trust.

I paid 220 dollars for a new semi-sneaky pete with joint collars in 1995. You paid less than 200 for a lightly used custom cue in 2007. If you like the cue except for the finish, just pay someone 100 dollars to refinish it and you still have a steal of a deal if you like the hit. 195 is really a tiny amount of money when talking about "custom cues".

If you do not like the hit, sell it to someone who does after you refinish it.

Just a quick mention of a deal I had on ebay with cuemaster, same looking cue, all the same problems, bad finish, dings/nicks ect.., joint collar not flush ie..collar on shaft was bigger than collar on butt., I was very dissappointed and will never buy from this seller here or ebay ever again. I think it comes down to he is just being dishonest, he sells a lot of these cues, you mean to tell me that he plays with them all????????, I think he puts down test hit or used slightly to cover incase you notice(and who wouldnt) all the problems. Good luck to any who buy from this seller.

I don't care how much you paid for this cue, there is no excuse for poor workmanship like this. As others have noted, despite the overall value of the cue, a lower than usual price is no reason for the work to suffer this badly.

Honestly, if I received a cue like this, it would be shipped directly back to whomever sold it to me. You are within your rights as a customer to ask for a replacement or a refund.

the finish is not the greatest

did you miss the part of the cues description where it states ' the finish of the blank is not the greatest ' ? this should have told you there some problems. did you ask for a refund? i will agree the cue doesnt look to good, but if you buy a cue with a bad finish what do you expect to get?

All of this shows that there is a lot more to making a cue than people think. After looking at the pictures I can appreciate how hard it is and why they cost as much as they do. I think we take a lot for granted because there are so many good quality cue makers.

The cue you got is a ugley turd. Looks like ya learned the hard way.Next time spend the 200 bucks on a viking ,mcdermott,or a joss they do make nice cues no matter what any snob on AZ will tell ya JMO.:) :)

Amazing. First of all, the cue sounds terrible. Should $195 be paid for it? Not a chance.

Now, that being said, the main problem here is the buyer. Sorry bro, but you asked for it. Does that make it right? Absolutely not, but now you know better; and you are telling others, so hopefully they will know better, too.

At $195, you could find a fine "manufactured" cue...forget about custom cues, they are no better then any other, and always at a rediculously higher price...that's my advice.

I would have been disappointed....

I bought a Ratcue at that price, nice finish, solid hit, well made cue for $200.....there are a few basic customs in that range, I'd have been disappointed....my view is that $200 is a lot of money....

Now, if you had bought a car for $200, beggars can't be choosers, but $200 can buy a lot of cue....

I agree sir, although I will also agree that 190 some dollars is a lot of money I will also say that it is all of our fault for being willing to pay such high prices for a piece of wood so we can not complain.

But I have learned that 200 is not going to get you a exceptional production cue let alone a custom cue. For the money judging from the pictures however I believe you should have just went with a production cue.
