Is main forum http://forums.azbilliards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6 cluttered by threads that should not be in main Forum
such as Accessories ,Tables , Cues ,Playing systems etc

Shouldn't the Main Forum be about main themes (like industry issues, tourneys, pro players issues etc) NOT about micro issues like accessories and buying selling etc

Maybe that is why number of visitors not more than 150 these days
The Main Forum should be cleaned up before it becomes ghost town. Am I right or am I right ?
:)

Did the ghosts tell you why they left?

Probably but I don't get bogged down by it much since I pretty much use the "NEW" tab, so I'm gonna have to scroll through all of them anyway even if they were in different sub-forums. But that way I hit every thread with a post I haven't seen yet in one click, including the main forum and my subscribed threads.

people should stop creating threads that are related to other threads. i think digging up old threads are better than creating redundant ones.

I think it works reasonably well as it is. You have to wade through some topics that may not be of interest and could have been posted in a different forum, but you see topics of interest that could have been posted in a different forum where you might have missed them. Most of what I want to read is here and I just occasionally drop into other forums. I think forcing people to check too many forums is counterproductive as shown by the posts where people say "I posted this in another forum, but having received no response, I thought I would try here in the main forum given the greater exposure it generates."

BINGO

I totally agree with this....some gems get lost.
...adding new info is like polishing them

its more clogged with eleven stickys up there that appear on every page. i dont mind them on the opening page of the forum but every page i have to scroll down a long way to get to posts. but who want 11 stickys up there.

I like the variety on the main forum. Of course if I'm really interested in specifics I'll go to that particular sub forum for further investigation/curiosity. But to kill fifteen minutes while waiting for the wife to buy stuff at the store, the main forum is priceless (exactly how I stumbled upon this topic).

Long live the main forum.

I like the variety. My only gripe is folks who use their normal every day signatures as a large billboard to hawk a product. Then they incessantly "reply/BUMP" on anything in that particular thread to resurrect it to the top for increased "thread/product" exposure.

I believe that sort of thing should be in the for sale area...

Actually, I believe just the opposite.

I think the dilution of the Main Forum is a pox on the expansion of AZ Billiards.

There are Filters in place for people to use if they are so inclined.

However, it seems that every month a new sub-forum is added. Most VIEWERS/LURKERS don't get past the Main Forum imo, although I could be wrong. Even for myself, I seldom drop off to the sub-forums.

I have always been able to quickly scan through several pages of threads in the Main Forum and choose which ones I am interested in reading.

The addition of the sub-forums is a form of segregation and it diminishes the Main Forum imo, which I believe to be the most valuable part of AZ Billiards as far as discussion is concerned.

If you are interested in particular topics, you can easily use the SEARCH feature and find almost any thread or post about that particular subject.

In my opinion is mult-faceted threads of different subject matters IN THE MAIN FORUM was one of the things that I most liked about AZ Billiards.

My time is limited for visiting AZ Billiards and I find visiting the different sub-forums to be time-consuming so I don't visit them very often.

On the other hand, in the old days, if a subject was a hot topic on the Main Forum, you could easily see that it was a popular one, by either the fact that it had a large number of posts and/or that it stayed on the first page for a long period of time.

I have never found searching the Main Forum to be a problem OR IGNORING particular threads/posts or particular posters.

To the best of my knowledge, I don't even have any of the muzzled haters on the IGNORE Filter. :D

I like the majority of the threads to be in the Main Forum but that's just me. I probably miss a lot of good threads in the sub-forum because I don't regularly visit them, but that's just me.

Just my opinion.
