So this picture has been hanging in my local pool hall for years and nobody has been able to identify the guy in it. Today I looked at it and I thought to myself "Is that Marty f***ing Herman?!?!". So, is it?

is this MH

looks like Telly Savalas to me.

From TV's 'Kojac' - 'who loves ya baby?'

Kojak definitely played pool, had a fondness for the field of green. It is my understanding he often frequented pool rooms in California while filming movies and his hit series TV show "Kojak."

Here's a seasonal rental property in Lake Havasu City in Arizona: Rental Property.

"Professional pool table" courtesy of Telly Savalas' son. Must have belonged to Pops!

Here's a cute article about Telly Savalas renting a suite in his favorite hotel. They finally named the bar after him because he was such a "regular": Telly's Favorite Hotel Knew Him as a Regular Guy. [Retrieved 4 March 2012]

So, although he had no monetary stake in the bar, Savalas became a fixture at Telly's. Vacationers gawked. Regulars asked which team he liked on the day of the game. They challenged him to shoot pool and he rarely declined.

He was most often seen at Ye Billiard Den in Hollywood. He was a fun guy who liked to shoot pool, have a beer (or two) and bullshit with the guys.

That's a Global table, a very good table that we played some big tourneys on in the 90's.

Hi Jay,

There are a couple of Global's still in use at Pool Sharks in Las Vegas. My understanding was the slate was well over an inch thick. If properly maintained, they played very well indeed. What are your thoughts?

The OP's photo does look somewhat like Mooorty. Haven't seen him in years. Last played him at Ultimate Billiards in Connecticut. He "cried" like a baby throughout our match. Couldn't believe he was losing to a nobody !
