Is this memorabilia

If few are collecting, there is no supply! Then when they become nostalgic in 15-30 years-the prices go through the roof. Like the old baseball cards no one kept or their mom threw out. No supply=high prices.

Doesn't mean there aren't any out there, just that there is no demand. The stuff you mentioned fits this category, all right. Back when I was collecting comic books I had stuff from the thirties and forties, funny animal stuff that I couldn't even sell because there were plenty of them, just no demand whatsoever. It IS a good time to buy stuff now, if you've got the money, bad time to sell just about anything that there isn't a real high demand for.

Yeah-I've been selling Knives on Ebay at prices starting under cost and 50% get no bids. I had a Schrade knife with a $59 list that i started at 4.99-No bids!!

Things are a little better now just in the last few days but ive mostly broke even or taken small losses.

Ive been buying though like crazy-hopefully my day will come. MY plan is to wait a year and hope the market changes. In the meantime I'm trying to get my feedback up there and establish myself. If anyone likes Pocket Knives ive got some bargains.

Actually Bruce that was a good idea. I am all about trying to do something for pool. So heres what I suggest, you out bid Lenny for the $100 he offered just do $110 and I will take it. Then you have it to give away, auction or sell and then take those profits and give it to the BEF. Sound like a plan? Now we are playing with your money, how u feel about it? You were all happy about me giving away a pool school spot that costs me money so lets see you come off for just $110 to help pool... I got a feeling I'm gonna hear crickets right now,

Actually Mark I am out of GREEN, and have no money to extravagances. I don't know what the "BFE" is?

I did my bit for pool last year with the help of many, and the BGCMP was the benefactor of the project. But honestly have no extra GREEN to blow on memorabilia.

I still collect books, magazine, playing cards, games, etc. for the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center, and clothing for their Homeless Vets Program. Make a trip about monthly when I have a car load. Too me that is the best thing I can do when it come to charitable giving.

Think my cause is a good one because,

'A veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his, or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to The 'United States of America', for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' (Author unknown)

As a person who deals in signed memorabilia, what you have in your possession is a very nice piece of billiard history that a lot of collectors would be willing to pay a pretty penny for.

Tom Gearhart

I got a Big Check at the Last Call for 9 Ball in Atlantic City, I think that was the name of it hmmm.
And way it was for $10,000 I had it framed. I thought it was very cool.

check

I think you should put it in the SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX,or your pool room.

Would you take $10,000 for it now? :grin-square:

I also have one of Archers and thinking maybe I should get some from other players if possible.

Mark is the Archer Check the one from the Desert Shootout, that bounced, and was never made 100% good, ?

Your bringing back memories for me of Imperial Schrade, my father worked there for many years and we actually lived across the street from the original Ellenville plant before they moved it across town, I was only a couple years old. I did work there for a very short time, factory work is not for me I found out. When they closed it was a big deal and really put Ellenville into a worse economic situation. I heard they moved production to China and the good Schrade name was bought.

CC, theres no doubt you busted your butt in the last while for the kids, and the volunteer work you do for the vets is commendable as well.
I'm pretty sure BFD does his share in promoting pool too.

The Archer check IMHO is worth a lot to Jay Helfert as he has been working trying to make all the money dues the players from that check, and the other bad checks from the Desert Shoot good.

Is BFD, MARK Cantrell?
You know who I am COCO but just in case yes this is Mark Cantrill. The check in question is the Desert Shoot out check but when I got it I asked Johnny what if the check is no good he laughed at me when I asked to buy his check for 50 cents on the dollar. Then a few days later called me asking if I still wanted that deal. Not a good situation at all.

Yeah Taylor Brands LLC bought them and just before i guess Schrade had some knives made in Ireland. Me and another guy on Ebay tried selling them starting bids at 3.99 nothing-relist-nothing. Now that things are a little bettter maybe they will sell but im still holdng back most of my stuff for when the good times return, if i live that long.

I honestly do not understand you handle BFD LAD as Ricky Ricardo would say SPLAIN.

Thanks for the clarification Mark. I confess I thought it had something to do with the Urban Dictionary's definition.

Bob

Could always put it up in the raffle section and see what happens .... I bet a lot of people would be willing to risk $20-30 each to get that for their pool room. $25 a spot times 59 spots is $1400+
