issue that annoys me about the Advanced Search function on here.

I have this issue every time that I want to search a cue makers name in the Advanced Search engine on here. When ever I want to look up a cue makers name (like Richard Hsu for example), I go to Search, and then Advanced Search, and then I use the "Titles Only" function so that I can get results just for the name "Richard Hsu" in the title only (and not in the description), but it does not work. It will display any title with the name Richard in it, so it will display all of the cue makers with the 1st name of Richard (like Richard Black, Richard Helmstetter, Richard Harris, and any other cue maker who's name starts with Richard). I wish that when I type in a name that contains more then 1 word, then it would show only results with the full name that I typed, and not every result that was ever in a title with either of the 1st or last names that I typed in my search. I wonder if it would be possible for the creator of this site to fix this issue? I was looking up Richard Hsu cue threads tonight, and it took me a long time to search through all of the pages to find the very few that I found. If the issue could be fixed, then I would not have to search through pages and pages to find the Richard Hsu cue threads that have been posted on here in the past. Am I the only one that is annoyed by the Advanced Search feature that does not work the way I think it should? Should it not only display the threads that contain both the 1st and last names of the name that I typed in the advanced search function? Sorry for repeating myself so many times. Just want to hear some other members thoughts about this. Thanks.

Bob's right, but you can get the results you're looking for by searching for "Richard Hsu" in quotations.

A simple workaround for the 4-letter limitation, is to search for hsu*.
This brings back any words starting with hsu, including hsu by itself.
That being said, something is broken here. You won't get the results you're supposed to.

I don't know if it's vbulletin search just sucks, or a settings issue on AZ's end.

I searched for richard AND hsu* and it brings back only 4 posts, and 3 are irrelevant.
Ditto searching with +richard +hsu* which is supposed to work the same way.

If I search "richard hsu" in quotes, it brings back dozens of results. There's no reason
the first search shouldn't bring back those same results.

If I search ric*hsu it should actually return zero results because that means (or should mean) a single word that starts with ric, has 0 or more letters in the middle, then ends with hsu. Unless a post contained words like richsu or richardhsu it should bring back 0 results. But it brings back anything with richard/ric and apparently just ignores the hsu part.

Thank you, great seasrch tool

Glad it works for you. I use it for Tad and for some older posts, For some reason although the thread still exists, the AZ search function sometimes won't "see" it.
