Its George has my Case!!! (and won't send it back)

That happened to me when I took my 1957 Bel Air Nomad in for repairs.
The garage gave a 3 year old Toyota Corolla as a replacement.
In court they proved the Corolla was worth more than the Bel Air's original selling price of $5,300.
I miss that car.

If I had a 1957 Nomad wagon and someone tried to scam me out of it, I have I don't know what I would do, but I could see me going on full tilt... locked & loaded

This isn't passing the smell test. In cases like this you are generally owed for the value of your item, not for what it originally cost (although in some cases there can be legal limitations for things like classic cars). Also, unless there is a contract specifying otherwise, you are generally owed payment for the item so that you can get the replacement of your choice. They can't make you take a specific car as your compensation for example (again, unless there is a contract saying otherwise) but instead they have to pay you what it was valued so that you can take the money and pick it yourself. For that matter you aren't usually under any obligation to even have to have to buy another car with the money and are free to do with the money as you please. There is almost certainly much more to this story that you either just didn't understand, or are choosing not to give.

A 57 Bel Air did not cost $5300. Factory price would have been about half that.

As for your case a legal maneuver might not work as well as you like.
Why?
You returned a very old product to a manufacturer for repair and they sent you a replacement.
On paper that could look like really great customer service.
Any lawyer responding to a claim can easily say your case was old, obsolete, not reasonably repairable, etc.

Yes, jimmyco..... sarcasm.
People take things too seriously nowadays and react too fast.

don't send me the 57 chevy
i would hate for you not to know what you would do

the thing about the pool hall mentality that i find troubling
is that if someone does something and you don't agree you immediately suspect foul play

its time for fist city
time to go to court

no understanding,no forgiveness, no apology

the guy sounds honest and a good person but a terrible business man and shouldnt be dealt with in that regard.

Oh, it passes the smell test...believe that.
Everything about him is full of shit.

Only cue I have ever owned over a $1000, the same thing happened. It was a Bludworth, and the collar started buzzing. Talked to Leonard several times, sent it back, we talked some more, it was fixed, and then nothing. No cue showed up so i called again. This time the story changed to, I never had your cue. It was a big shit storm. In the end i was left with a civil suit judgement as my only recourse, in which nothing would come of it.
I also owned a OB shaft at one time. Same thing happened to it :(.
Only in pool.
OP I hope you get your case back, if not, chalk it up to the game you love, and laugh to keep from crying

Not once have I slandered anyone..
In fact, I have been more than understanding of his health issues (and his age)

I have never gotten mad at Mike Roberts, but that said, he has my property and it needs to be returned. Its a business.

If everyone on here knows him, can someone contact him since he won't take calls or texts anymore?

We spoke on the phone a few weeks ago as he held my case in his hands, discussing the rivet.

I have sent him pictures of it, again... so he can find it.

It has an inscription on the bottom, that i sent to him so he can find it...

Holy shit, I can't imagine ever someone telling me something like that

Damn

Would you say the same of your 24 year old (insert name of valuable cue)__________ !
After all it's just a cue and you had a good run with it!
Correct. I most likely would.

[edit] But, if it's the money you are concerned with, because it's a lot, then by all means keep trying. If it's just the fact that you had it 24 years, well it's just a case.

I'd try to get it back as best I could, but at the end of the day it's just stuff.

Maybe it represents money, or nostalgia or a certain prestige of ownership. But at the end of the day, it's just stuff.

I don't know man.
I've copied a few of your comments (in bold) for your review, and I think you will agree, they are pretty rough:

"Hi"

"I thought I'd share to see what opinions are"

"I spoke with Mike here and there, inquiring about getting my case sent back, fixed or not, and it was always a hassle trying to get in touch"

"I don't want the case I was sent.. its not mine. (its not even close to mine)
I want back the case I have had for the last 24 years!"

"Anyone offer any suggestions besides seeking legal counsel?"

"Thanks"

I didn't quote your entire post because I thought it would be too much for some people to take in, and this is a family oriented forum...

I'm sure you will get your case back, and next time don't be so brutal on these poor guys.

Peace
Ted

Personally, I would chalk it up to having a "good run" with the old case and move on.
Sentimental value is great, so maybe I'd send one or two more emails hoping for a miracle.
But stressing over something like that wouldn't be worth it for me.

Surely your original was a good (if not great) pool case. But in the end, it's just a pool case.

It's a just an Old, Worn Down, Original Hoppe Conversion Cue.
Don't stress.
You had a good run with it.
Move on.
Sentimental value is good but......
Send it to me so we will both be happy.

Your being sarcastic, right cuesblues?

6 months ain't nothing, give it a few years, then ask on here.
I'm being sarcastic there, ^^^, I'd be raising concerns too. Had you waited a couple years to post, then some of these folks would have said you should have mentioned it sooner. Now that you mention it, you should have waited. lol
Hope you get YOUR case back. If not, maybe 'someone' on here will send you a duplicate, (as a loaner of course)!
