Its George has my Case!!! (and won't send it back)

I have the same problem....

Mike has had my case since early Feb 2017 and today is March 26, 2018

I sent the 2x4 leather case in with a 2x4 vinyl and paid for work to be done as well as return postage. I did get the vinyl bac after prodding, but the leather is missing still.

I posted previous to this, for I had felt taken advantage of... but re-wrote this after MIke
he called me back today, apologized for his temperment, and in good faith, said he was in the hospital.

He has been sick and despite many calls I made to him in the last year, He advised me of call him next week and I think he has just been through a lot this year.

I am hopeful and optimistic that he will return my cases or get me another one like he said.

I believe he sold the company.

Most such company sales include assets, debts, and liabilities transfer. You might want to find the new owner. I believe he has posted here in the forums.

Could be difficult to straighten out, but I would at least check with the new owner.


EDIT: OK, I see you edited your post. Yes, I heard he was unwell too. He didn't sell the company?

He has a case of mine and never sent it back. The new owner seems like a much better person. His name is Marc Palermo. Message him on Facebook.
 
Don't just to offer to pay etc...Just send him a pre-paid box for the return of your case and send him a picture of your case so if someone is helping him, they will know exactly what case to return to you.

Maybe send a get well card.

I am still out my case, that I had for 25 years!!

I don't have a replacement, nor did I receive any monetary compensation.

I did contact the new owner and he has no cases.

Mike won't return calls or text.

I guess he thinks it will just go away.

He hasnt been sick for as long as this has been going on!

He was at Derby, and so was I, but he never made it a point to talk to me.
 
After all this you being in same building and the case being so sentimental, irreplaceable why the heck did you not go have a personal face to face talk with him?

Always different in person. Perhaps you could have 'refreshed' his memory. Now that company has changed hands GL brother.

Yes, he sold the company (case related business) I was speaking to him a couple of days ago on some other possible business, and he did confirm he sold his case business, lock, stock and barrel.
 
Pretty Simple

If you can't do the work, send back the item promptly on your dime.
That figures for everything... I've sent non-pool things out for repair or
upgrading, when the vendor can't complete the work, it's sent back
immediately.. that's just straight up business practice.

It also sounds like his business was very un-organized, no invoice
or claim check number attached to a particular case. I guess you
could've put a big piece of tape around the bottom with your name and
number... best of luck.
 
That happened to me when I took my 1957 Bel Air Nomad in for repairs.
The garage gave a 3 year old Toyota Corolla as a replacement.
In court they proved the Corolla was worth more than the Bel Air's original selling price of $5,300.
I miss that car.

There would be some “missing” people from a Shop that pulled that shit on me,
assuming you are not just pulling our legs.

you got screwed just as many have by the pool businesses that operate out of their pockets. they do that because they are not reputable and cant ever get things done. or they would have grown into a real business and had a reputation as so many have done.
time to let him know if you dont get it things will progress from here. like a lawsuit to start and getting a judgement against him and taking his possessions. all that will cost him money to deal with and its cheaper to give your case back or make a payment to you to make it right if he doesnt have it anymore.

It seems so petty to me how some of these people operate. Is keeping a cue or a case really worth damaging your good reputation? I'm sorry, but I'm "old school" in that I learned long ago that our good reputation is all we really have in this world. If you've lost that and your word is no good, then no one will want to have anything to do with you.

I've personally had some issues with my book and DVD sales and in each case I ended up either replacing the "lost" book or refunding the money. I probably got the worst of it, but I kept my 'rep' intact. In other business, I've bit the bullet for thousands of dollars just to make sure I kept my word. I did one L.A. Open that left me over 20K in the hole, but I made each and every player whole on their winnings out of my own pocket.

This is not to pat myself on the back, but to forewarn others the damage they do when they fail to follow through on their promises or agreements. Bottom line, don't make promises you can't keep!

based on the situation and timetable. I would consider the 20 years of use and depreciation as a blessing and buy a case from Gil Castillo or another case maker of your choice. Not alot of choices for that style case remaining. they are a tank. But, I am certain someone has a case by george or GTF that they would let go given your situation.

Jay nailed it right there... a man is as good as his word. I believe in that code,
If I give my word on something, it's done... if I shake your hand, that's as good as
a written contract. What's sad is that there's people (not just in pool) who think all
that is meaningless unless there IS a written contract.

With It's George, once he realized his health was preventing him from doing the work,
he probably should have delegated some responsibilities to others, get some help,
and concentrate on the actual case stuff. I feel for the guy... but you're burning the
loyal fans of your gear.

Never got anything.

People feel if they ignore situations they just go away.

Well done Jay. It's really the only way to roll. A few bucks out of your pocket that you won't even remember years later. But, the guy that got screwed will never forget and he'll remind anyone that will listen.
