Hi All,

I was at the SBE on Thursday and was impressed with the price and custom options of J. Pechauer cues (the pro series). DOes anyone have experience with them? I am going to order a 61" cue from them (I'm 6'4" with longer arms) and they seemed like great people and great cues. I tried one and liked it, just curious to hear if anyone else has experience with them.

btw, checking out cues at the SBe can be overwhelming, as that is what 80% of the vendors there are. It was a lot to take in, and a ton of fun.

Thanks,
Ryan

I have played and sold their cues for years. I think they are the best production cue on the market today. I have one they built for me several years ago that is the best playing cue I have ever played with. I can't say enough good things about them. Great product, great people, can't go wrong

i have 2 awsome pechauers and i agree wi wakuljr, they are the best...
if u want a nice cue, u r doing the right move...

and i have to say, you are going to be very happy... GO FOR IT my friend

Will do, thanks for the feedback! the sales rep i met at the show was off today, so I am going to give him a call tomorrow with my custom order. Leaning toward the PRO 8 or PRO 11 with some custom stain requests.

Did you by any chance try one of their JP series? If so how would you compare it to the Pro?

I just ordered one last week (the JC 01). I called them and was told that there was no difference in playablity. I was told they used a different joint and the pro series had a stiffer feel to it but they both played the same. I hope I don't regret my decision :(

I have one of their plain janes custom cues signed by Jerry, it was made before they started going production. It plays really well.

I did, it hit very well. honestly, it felt the same as the pro series. I actually ended up ordering the JC 15, but upgraded it to pro series specs, it wasn't very much more. supposedly the only difference is the joint, and perhaps not as good quality "looking" wood. Essentially, the wood I am sure hit the same, and the joint similar as well. I think the pro series joint may be slightly stiffer of a hit, that's all. can't wait the 5 weeks to get it!

Thanks for the reply...I just got my Pechauer (JC 1) about 2 hrs. ago and I love it! I know I'm just a beginner but I can certainly feel a difference between the JP and my stealth.

Question: Is it possible to keep the shaft as smooth as it feels right now? I mean is there some kind of maintenance I can perform that would allow it to stay this smooth? I don't remember if my stealth felt this smooth when I first got it but it certainly doesn't now.

P.S.
The JC 15 is beauty! Congrats :)

I too am a Pechauer dealer for over ten years and hands down I would say Joe and his dad (Jerry) are very talented at what they do. Theyre product really speakes for it's self. I own many including cues I had designed for my store front. Enjoy your new cue, I'm sure you'll love it.
Take care
:)

thanks, I can't wait to get it. As far as the smoothness, I always just use the white powder and that keeps it pretty slick. I'm sure others can comment better on all of the different products out there that will work as well.

I currently play with a Pechauer (JC01 model) and I LOVE it. I've been playing pool for 6 years and have owned 26 different playing cues and this one is by far the best. I've owned Schons, Jacobys, McDermotts, Omens, Capones, Gulyassys and a bunch of others and this Pechauer blows them all away. I actually had another Pechauer a while back, a PL01, and that one played great as well, but nothing like this JC01. I actually love this cue so much, I've owned it an entire year (as of tomorrow) and I although I've considered getting rid of it, I've never been able to pull the trigger because I doubt anything else I get will play as well.

Though I have no personal experience playing Pechauer, I do know they are highly regarded production cues. I've not heard much bad about them on this forum, that's for sure. Made in the USA, good customer service, and a great warranty from what I understand.

If you've found one you like, buy it and don't look back. I would suggest if you are ordering a 61" cue that you discuss the balance point with them before placing the order. But this goes for anyone you buy from.

Speaking of balance points, my wife has a $600 Pechauer, and the balance point is 20.5 inches, which I really like. I believe they have a reputation of being forward balanced.

The only thing I dislike about the cue is the hit, and I think this is due to the joint. It just doesn't have the solid feel of a Scrugs, for instance, which has gigantic screws and fits very tight to boot.

But, I would say that I have to agree with the other posters - this is one of the finest production cues on the market.

Jerry an Joe and the boys made a spliced cue, 1 of only 2 they have made, according to Johnny. lol. Best cue I have ever played with. I've had josswest, tad, Weston, jensen and schon ect.ect.... lol. I wouldn't trade/sell this cue for anything

I have an older 2007 series PS24 and I absolutely love the cue. I've shot with Mcdermot, Meucci, Southwest, Szamboti, Predator and OB. It holds it's own against them all. The Szamboti being a bit of an exception. $8000 is just to much for a cue stick, I don't care how good it shoots. Best tip for keeping the stick as smooth as new. Take care of it. Don't lean up against a table where it can get knocked over by a passerby and keep it in a case when not using it. If you don't have a "claw" get one. To many places we place pool at have round bar tables. They're not cue stick friendly. Don't leave it in your car during the day or night. Treat it like you would a baby. You wouldn't leave a baby in a car. Seems that no matter how careful you are, dings always occur, but at least do what you can to avoid them. Heck!, even on league nights I don't leave it in my car during the day. It's sits in my office till the end of the day.

I really need some help...

I need someone that knows (collects?) Pechauers to help me with a few questions...

For example, When did they start making these production style ? what time period were they produced on a strictly custom basis ? I know this is a very tough question to answer but what "range" do the values of the original customs fall in ?

Are there any marks, signature, etc.. that identify these cues ?

Reason I am asking, I am purchasing a collection of cues... this collection included a handful of old pechauers...

Can someone talk to me here?

I have played with Pechauer for 8 years, great cue. I recently received a Pechauer Break Cue, very, very nice... nice hit.

Jerry, Joe & Steve... great guys..!

In your position, I would call them directly and ask them. They certainly would be able to more accurately answer this than anyone else I would think.

I don't know a lot about the history of Pechauer, but I do know that the pool hall I primarily shoot at is an authorized Pechauer dealer. So there are quite a few people in this area who have them and love them. I have shot with them and they shoot really good.

I know they are now considered "production" cues, but they will do custom work as well. My wife's old cue was done in a custom pink color by Pechauer, which you can click on my sig line and see. Of course it wasn't the "exact" shade of pink , so she now has a Pink Ivory custom cue.
