You wrote that knowing full well that many people will criticize you for it, and yet still opted to say it.
It's also nice to see you say something nice about Johnny. Top players seldom show each other respect these days, so it's a nice change.
I give you my full respect for on both accounts, although you had it already.
You can subscribe to a thread.I think when you do that you get a notification in your user control panel every time someone posts a reply you haven't read.
JA and I were talking on the phone last night about pool, something we dont do often. But we were and JA asked me to make this post, he doesn't like to type so I said I would do it for him. (Dont shoot the messenger) Everything in this post is JA's words and ideas not mine. I dont have a pony in this race.
He wants to play Darren a race to 100 or 150 its negotiable playing 10 ball for at least $10,000, he wanted to say $50,000. I suggested that if he said $50K it might look like a high roll move, JA isn't egotistical he is very humble and said "Yeah your right", so Up to $50K, perhaps a little more depending on who can raise what, JA said he can raise $50K with out a problem(this doesn't include any of my $$$, I might not bet).
The stipulations are playing on a Gold Crown with Simonis cloth and 4" pockets, anywhere on the East Coast. Does not have to be in his pool room, it can be anywhere in the East Coast. Just a spot both players agree to play.
He said that the best plan would to make a appointment with a minimum of 30 days lead time so Darren and he can be ready to play and work out the details of where, when, how much, game details. He wants to play call pocket 10 ball. There were a few other details, but that can be sorted out later between them.
The purpose of this post was just to politely ask Darren if he is interested, not to show off or try and be a big shot. There is no anger, revenge or hostility from JA. If Darren wants to play he can contact JA directly or me and I'll get them in touch with each other. If they come to a agreement each side posts up a $2500 show up deposit. That can be held by anyone both sides trust, I would hold it if Darren is cool with that. Its doesnt matter to me. Its just awalys good to post show-up money after the game is made. This way if one side pulls up the guy who shows up gets $5,000.
Its just a invitation to play a big race for big $$$, we didnt talk about streaming it, etc. JA just wants to know if there is a game there-if there is then that can be worked out to everyones satisfaction.
If Darren doesn't want to play then it ends here, there isn't going to be any trash talk, both players are gentlemen. There is either a game or there isn't.
I dont want to be involved too much, I made the post for JA, I offered to hold the show-up money. Beyond that I dont want anything else to do with it, I'm busy with other stuff. I cant get caught up in the rules, location, etc. If someone is a no-show I will pay the $5,000 Show-up money to who was ready, but thats very unlikely to happen.
They are both my friends and I hope they play-thats my feelings. I think JA and Darren both have their work cut out here, this match aint stealing for either of them-it might be a pick'em. JA hasnt been in much action recently and something got his nose open(thats my opinion), it actually caught me off guard when he asked me to post this.

You sure can.... but can you explain why someone would make a post to TELL US HE SUBSCRIBED?
He had to make a post of SOME SORT on this thread for to be "subscribed" to it. Now, anytime someone makes a new post on this thread, it will show up on his User CP and he can more easily keep abreast of any new developments. He simply kept it short and to the point by typing "SUBSCRIBED" to his post.

Now you have to post to a thread to subscribe to it? I've always just gone to the Thread Tools tab and it the subscribe option.
I'll join the chorus - would love to see these two guys match up. Both are run out machines. I for one can understand if Darren doesn't want that long a race, they're not for everyone.
Appleton already said he would never play a long race again right after he lost to the smooth criminal.
The race to 100 will hopefully be a fad that dwindles and a more entertaining format for the audience as well as the players will take over.
