This is my son Kyle. He beats his mother and sister to death on the table already, and is only 9 years old. He doesn't run out, but he runs 3-4 balls regularly. I haven't been home to show him anything since we got the table. Soon, though..

Thought you might recognize this sidearm stroke.. LOL.

The "Tremor" punter??? PERFECT!!!

Can't rep you or I would. Nice shot. Looks like you are doing well, Russ. Keep it up and again, welcome back.

I like the way the windowsill doubles as the bar....(shows respect for the table), but I'm really hoping that window is Plexi-glass!

Russ, my girlfriend got my attention to this picture, and it is the spitting image of me when I was a kid learning how to play. I chuckled a lot when I saw the picture because it reminded myself so much of me.

It looks like he's got the demeanor and the killer instinct in his eyes to be a real good player. For youngsters who aren't tall enough to reach the table, the side-winder stroke is not a bad way to go. You can actually get down and see the cueball better at a longer range than if a person is standing straight up.

Good luck to Kyle. I hope that I read about him in the future. Keep me posted, and let me know how he's doing.

I heard that you are not here in the U.S. right now, but when you do come back, send me your address. I would like to give your son a little momento from me.

Russ, DON'T change a thing! Just let him play! He is standing very well right now to see the shots. Don't mess with his stance, his stroke, his bridge or anything. Just let him play and have fun. He'll learn things on his own. How to improve his bridge etc. And he will ask you when he is ready to learn. POOL PLAYER IN THE MAKING! :)

No less than our resident guru Blackjack Dave had good things to say about Kyle's stroke. After only two months on our home table, he was making some shots based on pure talent that I was surprised by, even though I play a little myself.

I went up to Orlando to play with Dave while I was on leave from Iraq, and brought Kyle along with me. I played with Dave a bit, losing almost every game, and then let Kyle jump on the table with him. Kyle made some long, difficult shots, and looked like he didn't think anything special of them.

He is just like me in that he REALLY doesn't like to lose. The only thing remaining is whether he likes to win enough to get on the table and practice. I am not going to push him, because I really think champions just like winning (and hate losing) enough to take things into their own hands.

The garage was still being renovated in the other picture. Here is what we did with the walls later.
