***JAM's 10,000th Post***

Wow! That's such a milestone! I know it may mean little to people outside this forum but here, that (and keith) makes you royalty. You've really invested yourself here; hope you don't let the 'other' people on this forum bother you and make you stop posting. Keep on truckin' JAM!

PS I was going to change my avatar to the one you suggested but the editing didn't stick -- i lost my face! haha

What a great way to start my day, though it's a little bittersweet for me today. :(

Yesterday, Tim Russert passed away at the age of 58 while he was at work. For those who don't know who Tim Russert is, he is a journalist, news broadcast anchor man, a father, husband, and beloved son. He wrote a heartwarming memoir about his relationship with his dad growing up in an Irish Catholic home in South Buffalo in the '50s. I highly recommend this read: "Big Russ and Me."

It really hit me hard when I read the words that he had passed while at work at the NBC Studios on Nebraska Avenue in D.C. I transcribed thousands of pages of Tim Russert on his Sunday morning show, "Meet the Press," as well as other guest appearances he has made on TV in the past 10 years. I still have a recording of him interviewing Shaquille O'Neal and a couple other basketball stars when they first hit the sports scene. I remember having to look up how to spell "Shaquille O'Neal." Russert loved basketball. Even though I have only met him once or twice, I feel as though I know him. :p

Russert had a great deal of passion for sports, and was involved in many philanthropic activities in the Nation's Capital, to include the Boys and Girls Club. :)

None of us knows how long we are here on this earth. Myself, I have been involved in a couple auto accidents in which I should not have survived, but for whatever reason, I'm still here. I kind of liken it to I haven't fulfilled my mission here yet, whatever that is. ;)

This thread brought joy and happiness to my life today. Thanks to all who responded with your kind words. It was a thrill for me to read them. I feel a little like Sally Fields receiving the Oscar when she said, "You like me. You really like me." :D

I hope Tim Russert knows how much he was loved, how much his contributions meant to others. He may be gone now, but his legacy will definitely live on forever. God bless his family and loved ones.

JAM

JAM JAM JAM -- I just left you a bad-rep. As you know, I've always left you a good-rep every time you have given me a red one. However, this time it was my turn to leave you a red one... and that solely in preparation for my 666th post, (and I also wear Prada).

Tim Russert

As NBC News' president said yesterday, Mr. Russert's death is a loss for our nation. He was THE preeminent political journalist in this country. His passion and excellence are unmatched. He was also just a great guy.

I met him twice, both times at sporting events. He was a sports nut (don't know if he played pool though). I ran into him at an Orioles game once and shook his hand and later at a Redskins game talked to him briefly. He really made you feel like he knew you.

Like you, JAM I am deeply saddened today. Sunday mornings won't be the same without him.

In that case.....as the Irish might say.........."may he be knocking at the doors of heaven before the devil knows he's dead".

Roll on the next 10k JAM!

Amazing! 10,000 posts!! That's quite a milestone!!!

The only interaction I remember having with you is when I received a rep from you for - get this - calling Keith ...a FREAK! Of course you knew I meant it in a good way. Still, I had to laugh at that one.

Keep up those informative posts! Maybe we'll meet if Keither ever brings you back to his old stomping grounds.

Btw, it looks like the next one to get to 10,000 post will be LWW over at NPR. Somehow, I think there will be somewhat less excitement about that one. That guy can be a real ... ah, never mind.

Well, for all of you who don't know me, I'd like to clarify that I certainly did NOT give JAM a bad-rep -- I was just kidding. In fact, I tried to give her a good-rep but since I recently gave her one, I wasn't able to give her yet another one.

So, anyone who's uptight enough to misunderstand my pathetic humor, PM me and I'll give you a rep, (though I won't tell you if it's gonna be a good or a bad one ;^)

Love, peace, and understanding.
