I hope this doesn't embarrass Jay, and I do not know him except through AZ Billiards and listening to his commentary on TV.

Jay sent me a PM offering to give me a new Pechauer cue to replace the one I lost in a deal gone bad with cSjOSs. Brian has come forward and it looks like I am getting the cue back, but even so, the offer blew me away. The gesture was so kind and generous that I am speechless, and for me that's unusual. I wouldn't have taken the cue, but there could be a time when someone on this forum that is more needy that I will, and I am sure that Jay will be there for them. He is a very generous person, and I want everyone to know what he did. I would love to meet him someday, and buy him a Dr. Pepper.

The AZ community really helped me on my ordeal, and all of you including Jay have my respect and admiration. I have also donated cues to people several times, but for Jay to make the offer in a time when you are down and unsure about things, really meant a lot to me. Not to mention what the outpouring of support I've received from the AZ community meant.

All I can do is say thanks, and keep handing out as many greenies as the system will allow. It's not completely over, but I think Brian will do the right thing and send my cue back like he said he would.

Wow. There aren't many people in the world that would do something like that. Much less in the billiards world. Props to Jay. And it was a good idea to let everyone know who our good people are.

Jay is one of the truely nice guys in this world. Just don't try to screw him over. I have never met Jay that I know of. I did a little traveling in the sixties...so who knows. During the years I've known him on here we have bet, swapped stories of things that happened in pool and poolrooms years ago. I have asked his advice maney times and he was always right on or he said he didn't know.

If he ever gets his book finished and published, pick up a copy...no one that's into pool will not enjoy it or I'll give you your money back myself. Johnnyt

He is one of the nicest guys anyone could ever meet, in or out of the pool world.

I forgot that Jay was writing a book. He can put me on the list to purchase a signed copy right now. I would love to read it, and put it in my collection. Signed by Jay of course. I'm sure we will meet some day, maybe at one of his book signings.

It's easy to see why Jay has so many friends out there

I DID NOT want this posted on here. That's why the offer was in the form of a PM. I am a little embarrassed about it to tell you the truth. It was just a Pechauer that I got for putting on a Pechauer Tour event at my pool room years ago, so it didn't cost me anything. It was not a high end cue by any means, it still has the original sticker on it. I'm going to go find it now.

Wow, the sticker says $480! So I would value it at half that, the wholesale price. Any way, I just felt bad for the guy and I knew I had this cue laying around that I never use. It just seemed like the right thing to do. If you follow your heart, you'll always do the right thing. :)

I told Ted that there are many great people in the pool world, and some not so great. It is a good use of this forum to warn others about the bad ones. And my offer stands if he is not reunited with his cue.

I'm gonna bet we have seen each other somewhere. There aren't many places I didn't go where pool was being played in the 60's and 70's, including Florida.
 
Jay, my friend, I just wanted to let you know that I recently had a deal go bad with an electrician that ended up costing me an extra $1000. Just thought I'd mention it. ;)
 
I'm not surprised

I have been around Jay only a few times, once over dinner at DCC, but I liked him right off the bat. Even though I was hosting the dinner with Jay and George Fels, Jay pulled me aside after the meal and tried to slip me a Ben Franklin to pay for his meal. (And to answer your question, no, I didn't take it!) In my presence he has always been friendly, an engaging conversationalist, and just plain fun to be around. I had hoped to see him the last time I was in Las Vegas, but just missed connecting with him. He has a standing invitation for a free dinner with me any time we may meet.

Ted, glad you took the time to share Jay's big heart and class; I am liking him more and more for his talent, knowledge, and mostly class.
 
Jay is the man

I've gotta agree with Melissa, Jay is a legend in the pool world and a great guy with the biggest heart. He has all the inside info and endless stories. We are very blessed to have him here on AZ. Rep to you sir.
