Jayson Shaw is looking for a tournament backer

What I, really think is interesting, to myself anyway, is that Kimberly tends to think that we are a bunch of Hoodlums on AZ, yet, as soon a Str8 Shots name, alone with Jason Shaw's name was mentioned, there she was.

Thats what I think is interesting. Ok, you guys are interesting too.

steve mizerak was a teacher and a champion at some point wasn't he?? not all pros can make a living off pool alone, most im guessamating. you can work and still practice a few hours a day, real practice. we would love for pool players to get paid for their great talent for this difficult game like most other sports, the reality is that its not there bc theres no viewership, so work and make money to pay your own way, like the rest of us. its sad bc jayson is actually fun to watch, unlike most pros who bore the loiving shit out you. and I thought he was sponosred by lucasi??

if a player cant win on his own money why would a backer think he can win on his when he also gives up a big piece of the winnings.

pro players need to be ambassadors of the sport and get sponsored by companies like any other sport.

tournaments do not have a big enough prize pool for anyone to make real money off of pool.

what they need is to have a much larger entry fee so the prize pool is large. players will need to sell pieces of themselves if they cant pay the fare. this will generate viewers and spectators. that is a way to start a resurgence in the sport.
playing for basically peanuts will get no where

It's kind of funny that people like to tell us what Kimberly thinks, says and does but her actions speak louder than any words that will ever be written in this forum by any of us. I like to look at what a person does even more than what they say. Their appearance means nothing to me.

I think it is an interesting story, as to why Jayson Shaw is no longer sponsored.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this the second male pro player now in the last year
that was sponsored by them that now isn't, John Schmidt comes to mind.

I went to their website, but couldn't find info on who they still sponsor, seemed odd
I would think the sponsee's would be displayed prominently. Maybe I missed it?

[!

John Schmidt is still sponsored by Str8-Shots...

Well thank you that's why I said correct me if I'm wrong, looked on their website and couldn't
find mention of who was still sponsored and I thought that I read he was no longer. I stand corrected
and will edit my post to correct my mistake.
Again, Thank You

Why?

Rather than offering up an official statement from the company, you prefer to invite rumors and speculation about you and your modus operandi?

Kim its hard for me to understand why you'd approach it this way, given the backlash and misunderstandings last time.

Free advice: Its easier and cheaper to prevent forest fires than to put them out.

Mr. Bond,

You appear to have some interesting news that neither I nor Jayson seem to be privy too. My post in response to yours was simple; I’d like to hear the story.

Next you state it is easier and cheaper to prevent fires than to put them out. I agree but if there is no danger of fire, why spend time and money trying to prevent one?

Here is what is factual. There were some issues at Derby City. Jayson knows what those issues are and he is aware of our take on those events. He has asked to go over those issues with us while he is in Denver next week. We will meet and if for some reason an announcement needs to be made after those meetings, we will make it.

Jayson is so much more than what is seen when he is playing pool. He is funny, smart, compassionate, ambitious, and very dynamic. He knows we believe talent will only take you so far in life. He needs to create a brand around himself and his career so that he becomes a sought after commodity. When he makes decisions we encourage him to make good ones that will benefit him in the long run; not just give him short term gratification.

This should clear up any possibility of rumors or speculation people might have regarding the 'interesting story'.

Jayson Shaw is looking for a backer for tournaments. He asked me to post, he's about as good with a computer as I am at pool.

He's not looking for a handout, but a business partnership. US and international major events. Someone steady, not a one time thing. He's a hell of a player with top finishes in nearly everything he enters. He's bound to snap one off soon.

Looking for someone to cover travel/hotel/entries and split winnings at a fair percentage.

If anyone is interested PM me for his contact info.

this, is why the question(s) were raised, Kimberly.
thank you, for your response.
PS - maybe ABR should host you this Thursday? (Mr. Bond - this is entirely directed @ YOU!)

I'm aware of what was written by the OP. I think Jayson should be looking for as many people to work with him as possible. The more help he can get, the more events he can play in around the world.

I appreciate you suggesting an interview with ABR but with major events upon us I just do not have time right now.

Take Care!

Mr. Bond,

You appear to have some interesting news that neither I nor Jayson seem to be privy too. My post in response to yours was simple; I’d like to hear the story.

First, I want to make it very clear that my response is in no way any kind of attack on you, Str8 Shots, or Jayson. I have, as many people already know, a great deal of respect for anyone and everyone who does positive things for the pool industry, as I try to do the same myself. Likewise I am not a negative person, or a nay-sayer, and I spend a great deal of time and effort supporting every entity and person I possibly can, so please take this 'conversation' as an expression of appreciation and concern rather than criticism and skepticism.

That said, I have no ' interesting news ' that you and Jayson are not privy to, and never claimed that I did. I did however say that 'it' was an interesting story. 'It' being the simple fact that Jayson is no longer being sponsored by Str8 Shots. And since you have not stated anything to the contrary, I (we) have no choice really but to believe 'it' to be true. This fact is obviously something that you and Jayson are both indeed privy to. He knows he's not, and you know that he's not.

And for the record, You'll notice that I did not come here and post some kind of rumour or speculation, and actually questioned your request for me to do so, pointing out that it would be much better for you to post an official statement, thus heading off any opportunity for rumors and speculation to arise. (Hence the fire prevention advice)

Next you state it is easier and cheaper to prevent fires than to put them out. I agree but if there is no danger of fire, why spend time and money trying to prevent one?

With all due respect, don't be naive my friend. The 'danger of fire' is always present. To everyone everywhere. Surely you don't believe that you and/or Str8 Shots are not subject to the court of public opinion. Surely you know that every business under the sun must hold on to their reputation as one of their most prized possessions, and protect its integrity at all costs. This very issue is one of the reasons why we are having this conversation in the first place, if you think about it. If you didn't care, you wouldn't be here.

Here is what is factual. There were some issues at Derby City. Jayson knows what those issues are and he is aware of our take on those events. I would also suggest the same.

This should clear up any possibility of rumors or speculation people might have regarding the 'interesting story'.

Don't be mad at ME for saying this, because I'm just being realistic here, but unfortunately it probably won't, because some people will still want to discuss what the 'issues' were in the first place. I hope you understand that, and I hope you understand that their curiosity has nothing to do with me. But I do appreciate you taking the time to respond and I wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavours.

If there is anything I can do to help Str8 Shots achieve their goals feel free to let me know.

Your humble servant-
DBB

Going back to the opening post

Good luck Jayson. I would back you if I was over that side of the world.

From a viewer's point of view, it would be a crying shame if it was just money that stopped a player like this (any player like this) being able to play.

Kimberly

Very well said, Kimberly.

I would have hoped that this post would have served as an opportunity to end the speculative nature of some posts and allow everyone with any real interest in the original subject of Cleary's thread to return to point. Seems some just cannot let go.
