last night i finished watching last weekends ESPN shows on the WPBA Florida Classic at the Hard Rock Cafe. and after watching the way Jeanette, Karen, and Allison hosed up shots it started to make me feel a little better.

Jeanette missed a couple that were bad for her to miss, one was on the '8' Ball. Karen missed almost a gimme shot, when she tried to put high left on the cue ball and come around. and Allison made a thin cut on the '8' Ball into the side, but hit it too hard and came all the way around the table and scratched.

when i was watching all of this by three (3) of the premier womens players in the world i started to feel a little better about my game. guess anybody can mess things up.

p.s. maybe they should read Pleasures Of Small Motions?
p.s.s. so sorry if this topic has been discussed earlier.

Maybe they have and thats why they are the top women pros in their game.

Speaking of top woman pros... Did Jasmin compete in this??? Anyone know?

Hence the reason I prefer to watch the men play. What you witnessed was not a rarity. (The Fisher vs Corr finals at the BCA last yr was excruciating) There's a lot of nice women on the tour and all of them play better than I do. When spectating, I prefer to watch a higher calibur of play. I'm sure this will probably ruffle a feather or two but it's my own personal preference. ;)

The only exception to that would be.....ME of course! Right Timberly? Timberly? Hello? Is this thing on....????? :D

My Wife noticed Allison was breaking with a different Cue. She has always used her Cuetec 99296, but she was only using the Jump part of that cue.
Anyone know why? or what she was using to Break? kinda looked like a Sneaky pete?.

yeah i got it on tape. I think Jeanette Lee would of been in the finals if she didn't miss those shots. Allison scratching on the eight, i thought she should of went with some draw on that shot or maybe even shot it a little softer, a great shot though. Can anyone tell me why the Black Widow cut her hair, ouch. I mean as being a Native American i thought her long hair was B.E.A utiful :D. I also noticed there wasn't much of a crowd watching.

yeah, i noticed there wasnt much of a crowd down there either. wonder why that would be? Peoria is usually always packed...........

Hey guys; Peoria was NOT packed this year. Smallest crowds I can remember.

Also, they are playing on new Brunswick Metro's which are specially made mega-tight (compared to what they used to have). DCP can come up to Indy and play on some tight equipment - he might not feel so good about his game after all.:)

There were a LOT more misses at Peoria this year.

I'll add to this that the equipment being used in WPBA events this year is tougher than that in use in IPT events. I was lucky enough to go straight from Vegas to Peoria, and watched IPT equipment one day and WPBA equipment the next day. The IPT cloth in use (on which I have played) makes the rails play a little slidy, which in turn makes the pockets play looser than the pokcet cut would suggest. This will be obvious during IPT telecasts. Balls up the rail are still falling in more than one would expect. Contrastingly, the WPBA is now using 4 1/2 inch pockets with Simonis 860 cloth and the tables are playing very tough.

I didn't see it. Could it possibly be a Varney?
Wow, didnt even think of that, Varney says he does work for Allison, very well could be one. Whatever it is, Im sure its better that a cuetec.

Thumper is the name for the Sneaky Pete Style Stinger (Yes I am a pool nerd for knowing that)

And unfortunately all the stops this year seem to be off in attendance, most noticeably North Carolina and Michigan City. I can pretty much guarantee that NC will not not be a venue for the WPBA next year though stricly from anecdotal evidence.

Does anyone have any ideas on why attendance seems to be off across the board?

and who decided that what was really missing was missing and tightened up the tables?

quit playing/posting.... please.... no, seriously, please...

I agree. If DCP's only positive thoughts about his game can come because of someone elses misses, it is time sell his Cuetec and quit.

I don't think the single elim. for the final 16 helps. Johnnyt

No doubt, the single elim in the last sixteen has compromised the quality of the WPBA product, but don't overlook the influence of the IPT, either.

Let's say you are a big Allison Fisher fan. On July 24, if you had been at the IPT event in Las Vegas, you could have watched Allison Fisher play four matches and on July 25, you could have watched her play another five mathces. That's nine matches in two days. If you then flew to WPBA Peoria, you'd have gotten to watch Allison play just two matches on July 27, one match on July 28, and two matches on July 29. You'd have seen just five Allison Fisher matches in three days, seeing her eliminated short of a TV appearance. In fact, no WPBA player that lasted past the first round at the IPT event in Las Vegas reached the TV round at WPBA Peoria, and that was understandable, as those players looked tired.

The competition is very tough right now, with the IPT round robin format ensuring that you can watch the majority of the top ranked ladies (including all of the current top 4 by ranking) playing a whole lot of competitive pool without ever attending a WPBA event.

I fully understand why the WPBA has permitted it's best to play the IPT Tour, as disallowing it would likely have resulted in the defection of some of its very best players. Still, the decision does come with a price, and that price is that one can see most of the top women play without attending WPBA events.

It's a catch 22 for the superbly run WPBA.

Your points seem valid, but from what i have heard, there were no fans to speak of at any IPT event of which there were only 2. If they were going to be grabbing fans from each WPBA stop, they should have had more in the seats themseelves.
