Jeanette Lee's version - it's different

So this whole forgot the cue business is kind of interesting to me.

Had she not forgotten her cue, the whole scenario might not have happened.

Who's to blame again?????

SUPERSTAR said:
Would the fiasco still have happened if she didn't forget her cue?

I mean, pool Is a "you snooze, you lose" world right?

Perhaps you missed the very first post in this thread.

P.S. - She specifically wanted me to tell satman that yes she forgot her cue (has done so on multiple occasions; her life is HECTIC), but was still able to be back before the start of the Calcutta and the tournament.

It doesn't appear that forgetting her cue had anything to do with it.

Follow the rules and all of this could have been avoided. I find it hard to believe that she was that busy and, I also, find it hard to believe that no one couldn't have helped her find the guy who bought her in the calcutta. Apparently, she had a go between who knew what the guy looked like, but she couldn't find him? Doesn't add up.

I have forgotten what the person looked like that bought me a thousand times in calcuttas. You truly are approached by everyone when you are a pro player at a tournament (i can just imagine how it is for J). Most of the time the person that buys you WANTS you to buy half, esp if they come up and ask you. I always see how much money the calcutta produces b4 i buy to see the odds I will get on my money. When you forget who bought u the next best thing is to go to the tournament director and let him know you want half. That way someone knows and they can be found to be alerted of this. At that point they should make themselves available for p[ayment if they are sweating the player being dishonest about the money, after all it is now known that the player doesn't know what they look like. A verbal deal is a deal in my book. I promise you J is not sweating the money that she owed for half herself (she has a small fortune in nail polish in her walkin closet). Sounds to me this charactor is more likely the one that was keeping one eye on every 10 bucks he had in his wallet and was trying to not give up anything after HE saw HER doing well in the tournament. Sorry this is written so sloppy< I have a meeting in about 30 minutes and gotta go> love you azers! Thats my 2 cents!

Thanks for posting, Willie. After all is said and done, much of this incident can be deemed an unfortunate misunderstanding, and it's a shame that it happened. No doubt, as others have posted, the parties invovled might have handled it better.

I disagree, however, with those who contend that we shouldn't judge Jeanette on AZB. On the contrary, we should, and I will do just that.

Jeanette is one of the most generous, giving people I've met in a lifetime. She is devoted to her family and friends, and works with charities (most notably the National Scoliosis Foundation) to help out those with a difficult lot in life.

Jeanette is also the greatest female ambassador for pool in our sport's history, constantly elevating its image and visibility through the media and through appearances. In addition, through years of playing an active role in the Women's Sports Foundation, she has raised the profile of women's pool on the broader landscape of women's sports.

Yes, judging Jeanette Lee is a true pleasure. No, she's not perfect, but she is a role model at and away from the glorious green felt, and we can only hope that the next generation of players includes men and women as committed to our sport and its image as Jeanette Lee.

All those things you talk about, sjm, are part of JL's pool shot. Most of us haven't thought about, much less integrated successfully into our pool shot, such things.

JL makes more money in pool than anyone else. This is because she understands marketing as the highest value. This integrated effort is difficult....more difficult than the physical efforts and mental thoughts required to simply move a cueball efficaciously.

Integrating the widest-scope picture of her pool existence is so difficult that she sometimes misses, so to speak, her integrated goal. Oooooo, a miss...let's blame her for not being perfect, shall we? I look to her efforts in marketing for leadership and she provides it.

Thanks, Don for the other side.

This story demonstrates just how hard it is to put all of reality into one's shot vs. simply potting a ball and getting shape.

I don't know about you but I often wait until the calcutta is over to buy half of myself. Once I decided against it as the calcutta was relatively small - $400 or so to the winner and I went for $40 so it would have cost me another $20. Wouldn't you know I won the damn tournament?

I do think that the time to decide yes/no is before the draw. After that it's no unless there is some other agreement in place.

How I feel about this situation is that if the buyer agreed to give Jeanette half AT ANY TIME - I mean if he agreed to it before witnesses then that's it - she's good for the money and that's it.

So if in fact he was informed that JL wanted half and he said ok then that's it and she owes $70.

Looking at JL's side of it this is what happened. He should have taken the $70 and been done with it and made money.

But piss off your horse and maybe then she won't run at all. :-)

thats because you have no spine, dignity or self respect.....yea, he could of just accepted the 70 and won money or stood his ground, like he did and come out knowing that he made the right decision, its not always about money good sir.

Excuse me? You're right and because everything is NOT ABOUT MONEY she broke it down and went home. So much for saving $35.

Your take on it is that this is about HIS "spine, dignity and self respect", what about hers?

You think that she just petulantly walks out of tournaments every time something doesn't go her way?

How much if an asshole do you need to be to get Ms. Super Marketer ( I have been around her many times to know it's true) to act out of character and just forfeit out of principle?

Seriously, let's recap here, JL is known as the ultimate self marketing machine. She is constantly switched on and in tune with the Jeanette Lee as product whenever she is out in public, especially at pool events. And I have never seen her be ungracious to a fan.

The thing is though is that what did he THINK would be the outcome of being a jerk about it? In what world does it make sense to deliberately piss off the person who is making you money? Oh right, it's not all about money yet the guy was sweating the $70 ($35*2) ALL DAY - enough that he apparently fumed about it. I guess it WASN'T ENOUGH that he agreed to give up half and could have figured that she was good for it. He didn't stand his ground, he agreed to give up half in front of witnesses and then reneged. That is spineless, without dignity and financially stupid.

But anyway, I;d like to extend a hearty **** YOU for your comments that were personally directed towards me. I am discussing the TOPIC and not insulting you personally. Although I think you big ass picture is completely annoying as are you.

who said he was a jerk, he didnt, the TD didnt, only jl thinks that......its ok my dude, i understand ur a fan boy but really, take off your clown shoes and open your eyes.

What is the definition of Ad Hominem attacks?

Just wonderin'...

And just my opinion that clolson's personal references towards John are completely unwarranted and immature.

John has earned his respect in this industry many times over. I think he is owed an apology.

"Bait?"

"Yes?"

"Care to meet breath?"

"Not likely"

Yep I am a fanboy because Jeanette is a pro who has done way more good for pool than your panties-in-a-bunch over $35 friend can ever or will ever do.

Let's recap again because you obviously need things to be explained to you s l o w l y. . . . . .

Only Jeanette's feelings matter here because SHE is the person who is PLAYING. She is the one who can make money for Mr. Penny Pincher or decide NOT TO PLAY.

Apparently SHE felt that he was too much of a jerk to work for and so she QUIT. How do you like them apples? Berate your employee and they quit on you? Ain't freedom great?

Interesting. The guy representing the Calcutta purchaser has apparently now shown that he believes it's ok to stoop to rude personal attacks when there is a disagreement. Hmm...

i will definitely use this from now on when i buy someone in a calcutta.

Why not just have everyone who sides with JL and everyone who sides with Mr Calcutta fight it out in a giant rumble.

Whoever's side wins was right.

Mabey TAR will stream it.
