I am stuck between buying a ss jointed scruggs with 2 shafts or a new jensen with 2 shafts ss joint. I'm looking for a real stiff hitting loud cue and just want to know which people think is better???? Which is better for collection? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Im getting 1 or the other
Thanks:D

The Jensen definately hits stiffer.
The Scruggs hits a little softer which is what i like.
I may be interested in the Scruggs if you decide not to get it.
bobco729@yahoo.com for price,pics,specs. Good luck, Bob C.

Strictly IMO........

A Tim Scruggs will hold value better than a cue by Mike Johnson, so if money is your primary concern then a Scruggs would probably be the best choice. If playability alone is the issue and you want a stiff hitting cue then I personally prefer Jensens. I have played with both Scruggs and Jensens, Ifeel that Mikes cues play noticeably better IMO. Ultimately it comes down to your preferences and both makers have their pros, cons, and fans on this forum. Joe aka Bamacues has a very nice Jensen for sale here for a more than fair price (much cheaper than you could get it from Mike).

Many top players and money gamblers have used jensen cues over the years, Mikes cues a super players .Tims cues are more poplar I do believe down the road the Jensen cues will be bringing more money. At this time you can buy more cue for your money in a Jensen being his cues are slighty less money wise..... but by know means any less in playablity.
also I love both Tim's and Mike's cues and have owned many over the years
right now theres a Jensen new on here $2000 plus cue James Waldon model for a thousand dollars or maybe slightly less a great pick up at that price probally one of the best deals going right now on here (opinion)
you cant go wrong .......

Money wise would be Scruggs all the way. My Jensen with a SS joint is the best hitting cue I have ever played with. I would buy the Jensen Bamacues has and call it a day.

I am sorry, guys, but the James Walden Jensen cue that I had was SOLD last night. I think it was the best cue for less than $1000 that has been on the forum for quite some time.

A Jensen Plays better for my taste, however, you'll need to buy the Jensen used if you want your money to be safe. By the way, the Scruggs is not a hard/loud playing cue. In a steel jointed cue, you will not find a better player than a Jensen and that includes all of the untouchables.

Buy either

Play witht it. See if you like it. If you don't like it you probably won't like your other choice. Jensen cues are usually liked by players that like 12.4 mm shafts.
The only problem with a Scruggs is once you buy one you probably will buy another and another to keep!
Nick :)

I resemble that remark. I play with a Jensen with less then 12.4mm.

What he said above: I would not buy a player that I could not hit first, you need to hit several cues and then and only then decide which cue you like better. Tom

Collecting I'd certainly buy a scruggs. Play great too.

For a stiff hitting cue, less money, I'd buy the Jensen. Resale isn't great on them, but they play fantastic.

i'm partial to scruggs personally. but from what i hear jensen is the guy to go to for a ss jointed cue. it's a toss up i guess

I've owned quite a few from each cuemaker.

From a "totality of circumstances" point of view - Scruggs, hands down.

Jensen cues really do play great. Nobody can argue that point.

Scruggs cues ALSO play fantastic, and are FAR more likely to retain value. Nobody's really sure why, exactly, Jensen cues don't sell well on the secondary market...they really are undervalued.

Dollar for dollar, both are great cues. If your intention is to get an excellent playing cue AND not lose your butt on its value...you'd be better off going with Tim Scruggs.

Happy hunting!!

Mark

I have a Jensen. Mike makes the finest playing cues with a SS joint. Ask Mike and he will verify that.

This cue is a steal. Buy it and you will not regret it.

I actually play with a Jensen. I've used it for about 3 years now. I love it. I dont think a Jensen will bring more money down the road though. That is a really surprising statement to me. Both are an awesome choice!
