Jim Baxter JP's

Maybe I don't, but what I do know is that the other guy was being a cry baby, got called out on it, Jim even apologized, and yet, he still continued with the drivel. Maybe next time he goes to buy a cue, he'll offer the guy 66% of the asking price and we'll see where that gets him. Maybe another thread about his crying because he got cursed at.[/QUOTE

Maybe I don't----- There's no maybe.

He's a cry baby---- No he defended himself.

Got called out-----For keeping the thread going, when really it was his attackers?

Jim even apologized---- no he said he was wrong--- never said I'm sorry.

Still continued the drivel--- continued to defend himself against attacks.

Maybe next time he'll offer 66% of the asking price--- maybe 50%

See where that gets him---- maybe he'll just receive a courteous response.

better be quite you might get banned are a flash mob might get you

Who cares if it was a lowball offer? If I walked into Ernie Guittierez's shop and offered him 3k for a cue, do you think he would berate me? He might chuckle a little bit and politely refuse my offer but I doubt he would be angry at me for trying. I saw the original thread. I didn't see what Jim's original comments were but I did say where he said he shouldn't have handled it that way. In my opinion the thread should have ended there.

I probably would have handled it differently than both of the parties involved. But most of the attacks on the original poster are unwarranted.

If you are buying a product, regardless of the product, you can throw out any offer you want. If you are selling a product you can ask for any price you want. Where the two meet is when a deal is struck. In my opinion rudeness is never called for. And rudeness in retaliation is just as bad.

Who knows what was going on with Jim that day. Maybe he was having a bad day and it was the last straw. We've all been there. But he came on and explained that he felt he had handled it poorly. He took responsibility for his actions. I'm glad Jim does enough business that he can ask retail prices and not have to haggle to sell his product.

What disappointed me most were the attacks on the original poster. He was providing a customer review and was attacked for his experience. What I did learn was that I never want to do business with a lot of the people that attacked him mercilessly.

Gotta say, just for the record, that I've ordered a couple sets of Jim's jps, and was thoroughly pleased with the price, quality and customer service each time, a good value for my money. Sorry there's bad feelings going on here, I tend to just say "no thanks" then ignore lowballs whenever I sell something here.

it's a shame that thread was deleted, but last I saw it had around 8000 views so at least plenty of people were warned.

Warned of what? Not to lowball people? Not to cry when the seller tells you to F off with a lowball offer? Jim Baxter sells plenty of jp's at his asking price, and to be honest, I've never see one even discounted. Should I tell people to look at my profile vistitor messages to see your nice words? Or should I just forward it to the mods? You need a reality check, stop being a cheap ass. It's a luxery item, not needed, won't make your game any better, and you had to balls to ask for a discount on something that is cheap enough already. If you really want some jp's, go to ebay, and buy some for $10.

Very well stated!

In this country as well as many others, it is all to common to "make an offer". To be so arrogant that you are offended by an offer, is just plain childish.

How is a prospect/customer supposed to know that you don't accept offers when it is such a common practice to haggle for just about everything you buy today. It's an asking business.

If you don't ask you won't get a discount. If you do, you might. Being insulted for asking is not so fine.

As an aside, the butt caps certainly look like they are worth every bit of $60.00. Love the idea of identifying the shafts.

Those russian coins are sweet! I'd love to find some coins from England & from Germany (not Euros) that would be the right size for joint protector sets.

A few more US coins:

Not coins, but this set is for my wrapless Tascarella:

Quality products & always great service!

The way he treats people... Next time include context so people will get the clue that your were the problem, not Jim. What's funny is I can delete what you wrote on my profile. Even more funny is the fact that this whole ordeal is because you felt insulted by his reply. Did you ever take one second to think that you insulted him first? Show others respect, and respect gets shown to you. Creating a thread to bash someone just because you didn't like the way you got treated is not welcome, that's why you got red rep.

If you think for one second that people are going to stop buying from Jim Baxter because your ego got bruised, his temper flared and he cursed you out, think again. You were hoping to get a brand new, unused item for the typical used item price, and it didn't work.

If everyone stopped to make a thread about how they got treated today by a seller, no one would have time to reply to anyone elses thread. In the end, you posted a customer review of Jim Baxter, a review based solely on a reply from the man. And you expected us to not dog pile you? If you had purchased something, you might of found the reactions a bit different.

When was the last time you haggled someone over something brand new and price low already? It cost me $56 to fill my car up with gas last time, should I of haggled with the clerk?

Below in the signature is a link to my photo gallery , both j/ps and cues . Enjoy , over 1000 pictures in each . Jim

Probably best to just leave it alone

it's a shame that thread was deleted, but last I saw it had around 8000 views so at least plenty of people were warned.

You need to leave it alone. Thats one of the bad things about this forum, people dont know when stop.
It was fun keeping up with the thread and then it got to be like one of John Bs threads. Guess thats why he is banded.

was the clerk selling you gas in a wanted for sale section of a public forum are was he selling it to you at a shop he pays to run? and now that i think of it i thought the forum rules say no selling new items? are is that just for some of us?

I read a post in which Jerry Forsyth said that it was ok for cue builders to post their new cues, but its not ok for billiard shops to use the W/S to push their goods, or something along those lines.

See in Walkers set, the chrome hex bolts are $3 a piece right there.

The 1" pins, whether you choose to use aluminum or stainless are expensive as well. You don't get huge discounts for buying in bulk.

Rings in either aluminum or nickel/silver are pricey too.

Jim will use either an ivory substitute, Juma or similar materials for the white in his JPs.

Everything costs.

People who disagree with the $60 price tag should also consider how much labor goes into a set. At the end, they have to be sprayed and sanded.

As I mentioned before, many makers don't make JPs to go with their cues.
Overall, they are just too time consuming when considered the time it took to build the cue in the first place. The extra dollar amount that they could ask for a cue, JPs included doesn't add up time wise in the end.

I have a couple of sets from Jim, both were $60. If you want a nice matching set to go with a fancy cue, $60 shouldn't make you flinch. If it does, you're better off with a set of Delrin caps from EBay for 10 bucks.
