Yikes! He just updated his website on July 6th of 2010, and he extended the domain name until 2019. I'm not sure why his e-mail address page is missing, but try this: eBay DVD listing for Jimmy Reid expiring August 12, 2010.

His "new" phone number according to the above-referenced eBay listing is this: 772-807-1262.

I happen to know for a fact that Jimmy checks his PayPal account on a daily basis to see if he has any sales or if he needs to ship something out. He is a good businessman and treats all customers with excellent business etiquette. I'll bet if you contact him via eBay, he'll respond within 24 hours, like the eBay ad says!

Jimmy is one of those players who's very photogenic.

I was just back in Gloucester recently and ran into Artie Denikas, he owned Nick's Pool Hall in Gloucester. Jimmy started playing pool there a couple years before I starting playing there. I chatted with Artie and his wife and he asked about Jimmy. Pass it along if you speak with Jimmy, I'm sure he'd get a kick out of it.

How is Jimmy doing? It is sad to see all the colorful and great players not be able to perform to their true ability.

Thanks to Accustats for taping a lot of those matches to keep those players "alive".

If you don't have a Jimmy's instructional videos you are really missing out. He was a pioneer in that field and they are still among the best on the market.

There was a golden era in Pool! I'm glad I was a witness to it. Yes, the players of today are great players and all that, but the sport was just "different" back then. Full of personalities, excitement and just plain fun. With LOTS of gambling thrown in for good measure. The back room/practice room of pool tournaments back in the 60's, 70's and 80's was where you saw the best pool being played and the best players going at it night and day.

Sometime back then, a few people got the idea that we needed to "sanitize" pool to make it more acceptable to the masses. We needed to get rid of the gambling. BIG MISTAKE! That took all the character out of the game. And pool did have its characters back then. You think Alex is great? Well then you never saw Keith or Louie or Ronnie or Beenie or Cornbread at their peak. Throw in Jimmy Reid, Mataya, Pucket and Grady and you had an all out fun-fest and shoot-out rolled into one. And there were so many others who only added to the fun back then.

I will concede that we may have more good Ten Ball players today, but not near the fun, or half the excitement. Too bad.
P.S. No one ever had a bigger smile then Jimmy Reid. I can see him now engaging in some game-making and the guy asks him for a spot. That shit eatin' grin would come across his face and he would look up at the sky and roll his eyes. "YOU want the seven ball!" he might say. "Man, you just beat Beenie last week playing even! Give me a break!"

I agree with you, Jay, 100 percent! And, yes, Jimmy Reid's laugh and smile is infectious. He is just fun to be around.

I don't want to say "the thrill is gone" in pool for me, but it just ain't the same. :frown:

Speaking of characters, I would love to see this VHS tape with Jimmy "Pretty Boy" Mataya entitled "Secrets of Pool Hustling," shown with two other BCA Hall of Famers, Ewa Mayata and Steve Mitzerak. :grin-square:

Those were the days, and Jimmy Reid was lucky to have been right in the thick of it, along with Mayata and the gang.
