Hey, this is a special cue I am selling for my friend. This is a James White sneaky pete with butterfly flame veneers and hoppe ring. It was converted by Kevin Varney into a jump break cue. It breaks and jumps great. The cue is used and has some wear from use. The cue is straight. Weight is 19.3 and shafts is 13mm (I believe the shaft is an old growth shaft). There are two small lines on the forearm which are marks from breaking. Joint protectors included. The cue itself as a JMW sneaky pete cost over $700. Taking $600 OBO.

Also for sale is a used Scruggs Sneaky Pete. It has some wear and small chips in the finish, but not in bad shape. Cue is straight. Hits and plays good. Tip is 13mm, weight is around 19.5. The tip probably needs to be changed. Taking $500 OBO
SOLD

someone seriously took a jmw butterfly sneaky (was it a hi run at one time, or did he actually make the blank) and had it made into a j/b???

:frown:

Liked that cue the first time I saw it. Good luck with the sale, it is a unique j/b without a doubt.

No it was indeed a JMW sneaky, which Varney converted into a J/B, pretty cue.

I can't believe someone wanted to cut up a JMW. It is definitely a hot jump/break though!

hahahaaha...I said the same thing when I saw it in person. I said " How could you do that to a JMW Sneaky????"

i remember when the cue was in one piece...so nice. :sorry:

it started as a high run...... If i remember correctly this one was built as a "match" to the cue that benefica now has in his avatar.

This cue played fantastic (i played with it for awhile) the shaft on it was a nice dense piece of maple.

I with this guy the best of luck with his sale. But taking a cue like this and turning into a jump/break... it just doesn't make sense.

I'm surprised Kevin Varney actually agreed to do it.

Very nice cue and I'm very interested. Is the finish messed up around the jump joint??

I agree with you. Somebody murdered a James White cue :frown:
Should be now a good break cue.

The finish is worn, it could probably use a refinish if you wanted, but then again its a break cue, so I don't know.

To set the record straight...when the owner sent me the cue I made him aware that it was a valuable cue and shouldn't be cut. I even offered to supply another ebony hustler blank. Instead he definately wanted this one chopped. He just wanted the jump joint installed without a refinish which I did. It was perfect but I see some wear in the clearcoat now. Nothing that a quick refinish wouldn't cure. The cue breaks & jumps very good for those who may be interested.
