john davis blanks for a fellow azer

Dave,

Great looking cues and I can't wait to see them finished.

Great pictures too !!!

i like john and his wife. from what i hear these were made years ago. they arent as bad as some horror stories ive heard. the only thing i didnt like was the center holes were so big and deep it was hard to recenter. had to plug and glue. also id like a little more forearm up front

overall it is a good experience

ALSO... IF ANY MAKER CAN HELP ME IDENTIFY THE SPECIES OF ROSEWOOD IN THE MIDDLE CUE THAT WOULD BE GREAT. WHILE IT LOOKS NICE AND DARK IN THE FIRST PICS WHEN TURNED IT HAS A TANISH ORANGENESS TO IT. I CANT MATCH IT WITH ANYTHING. IM KINDA AGAINST THE BUTTSLEEVE NOT MATCHING THE INNER POINT WOOD BUT IF I GOTTA DO BACOTE IN THE BACK I GUESS I DONT HAVE A CHOICE. THAT WOULD BE BETTER THEN THE WRONG ROSEWOOD OR EBONY imo

WHY NOT ASK Mr. DAVIS? HE SHOULD KNOW WHAT KIND OF ROSEWOOD IT IS. IT LOOKS A LITTLE LIKE HONDURAN ROSEWOOD TO ME.

I did. He actually sent me alot of wood but nothing even close to matchng. I even sent pics to eric at bell forest with no luck yet

Really nice work Dave. The ebony, tulipwood is awesome. I'm a big fan of the Palmer designs. Really like your cue also. Very simple and clean. Keep up the awesome work! I bet they play just as good as they look too.

thx rex. u know i dont care what ppl say. i love love the hit of SS. i did the tulipwood ala predator with the thin walled SS. it hits like wood to wood but more firm. kinda in between. its an interesting feel with the hardwood forearm. obv i had weight issues with the ebony into tulip but the customer wanted a palmer style cue so i gave it the old school look with new tech for balance reasons.

well almost 5 am.

i just finished up a pass on a few shafts i cut from old pph brunswick house cues. it may break a few hearts but i wanted some older shaftwood for my personal use on some special cues i have going. im excited bc they are going with the wood barry gave me from gus' stock...:grin::grin::grin::grin:
