This is why pro’s don’t get on here.. lol douche bags like this say someone isn’t a top player who has ran over 400 balls multiple times and I don’t even know how many titles. What have you won? Can you even run 50 balls playing straights?

John is a hell of a nice guy and I wish him the best. I hope he takes it down this time.

OK, so I have to ask you: as BC recently pointed out in another thread, JS's most recent 400 ball run was not a 400 ball run.

Here is the facts.Check out the shot at 21:28 https://youtu.be/lf9hRHdA0A8 . The 7 ball moves when he places his bridge hand down on the table. All straight pool events are all ball fouls and always have been with NO exception so high runs are the same rule. I kind of know this from 30+ years of playing straight pool and playing in the World Championships quite a few times.

So to be clear to everyone John made 434 balls in a row but he DID NOT run 434 balls in a row. His run 100% stopped when he fouled the 7 ball.That's the rule and that's the outcome. His run started again with the next break ball in the next rack. So his run is -122 for a total of 312 for his run NOT 434. If John disputes this or if John claims that his 434 is legitimate than he is clearly cheating. Also to note at 1 point he left the cueball just outside the rack instead of inside the rack and he picked the cue ball up and shot behind the headstring. Another no-no.

So then, in my mind, the question that begs to be asked is: what about the other 400 ball runs? Were there fouls during those runs too or were they all "according to Hoyle"?

Does anyone know?

John was up in Lincoln City Oregon last week doing challenge matches at our BCA amateur event supposedly for some kind of animal charity.

You paid ten bucks and played him a game. If you won you got a ticket for a drawing for something later. If you lost you got a great experience for your ten bucks. Well at first anyway.

After about an hour John decided he had lost too many games and announced he was changing the rules to winner break. Said he was going to put together some packages now. So your ten bucks was going to be to watch him run tables.

Clueless and classless. I imagine his animal charity was gas money to Arizona.

I just shook my head and left the room.

Really, You know what i think? I've seen him play in person MANY times starting in 2004 or so when he came thru Florida (with his mentor BOBBY HUNTER -straight pool World Champ) as 'JJ' changing hair colors every few weeks til he couldnt get away with it anymore. He practices by playing SP and it is the game he prefers. He may not play ANY game much anymore but i guarantee he has 5 times the amount of hours playing SP as the players i listed COMBINED,

I also know he has quit 3 tournament matches before the outcome was determined, (no NOT in the last rack) including once in the World Pool Championship Vs Marcus Chamat when MC pulled a real low life move (I forget the specifics) but remember i may have quit also.I know him or of him well-have had him in Calcuttas etc so save it.

Sorry, the record for that is 633, done on a 6x12 table in 1888. All of the shots were a red ball off what we would now call the "black" spot on a snooker table. From the 1911 Encyclopaedia Britannica:

... In 1888 W. J. Peall made 633 “spots” in succession, and in 1890 in a break of 3304—the longest record—no less than 3183 of the points were scored through spot-stroke breaks. ...

Those are called "spot strokes". My own record for consecutive spot strokes is 104.

I think the biggest problem for John is overcoming the mental aspect of breaking the record.
When Willie ran the 526 he was just cruising along running balls,no real pressure.
When you chase any record there has got to be some pressure,especially if you get close.

Can you imagine what will go through his head if he hits 500?
I dont know John but will he second guess his shots after 500?
Will he stay cool and calm?

I’m curious if at that high of a number he even knows where he’s at. He would obviously know he’s high but if he can just blank out whenever his bub is racking and not count the racks it might be a haze of pool.

I can try to answer a few questions I've seen come up in this thread and others. I've been there a few times this last week, and will be there 3 or times each week. John will be there; Sunday thru Thursday, until April 18th. Each day from Noon until 6:00pm. The table used is a Gold Crown III with what I believe are the original cushions, pockets facings were replaced when it was just recovered. A Ball return was added to the table as well. Pocket size is about 5", maybe slightly more but not 5 1/4. Table is located in the pit, a diamond was moved out (table 13) to accommodate the Gold Crown. The tight Diamond (4 1/8) is still along side the bar in the pit. Plenty of seating around the perimeter to watch. Lighting on the table is a Diamond light with florence tubes.

Record down.. ran a few in the 90’s .... and a few in the 100’s , with one in the 190’s
I believe.

I have to say....it looks like a lot of work, to take that run down...always fun to watch
