I'll say it one more time. You can take the five or six best Straight Pool players (and ball runners) and lock them in a room (each with their own table) and let them all run balls for a month and maybe someone will run over 500 balls and maybe not. 526 balls is still the "four minute mile" for pool. I think it could well happen some day. That could be next week or it could be in ten years!

i've said it before that the pressure on John if he gets close say 500 will be enormous.
Willie was not trying to break or set a record,he was just cruising along.
I would love to see a heartbeat monitor on him if he ever gets to shoot the 527th ball.

I think Doug is keeping track of every run, he's keeps notes of some sort. I think I'll be there on Thursday, I'll ask. John also has his own video (separate of the streaming) of each day that they go back and review.

Maybe so, but if Willie had tried this often for his highest possible run, he would have felt the pressure when he got to 990.

“I asked a great straight-pool champion (Mosconi) what separated a player who runs a hundred balls from one who runs five hundred. He said that the guy who runs 500 has found out there is no such thing as a easy shot. The guy who runs a hundred, and misses, he doesn’t know that yet. He will miss and ask himself why he missed that easy shot.

That's one hell of a feat so far.
He may not break the record of 526 but has set a record of his own.
Just awesome.

I totally agree. Many here would like to run some of those numbers just once. 526 is one hell of a run. I think this is a real compliment to Mosconi's feat. I'm proud of what John has done so far and continue to root for him.
