John Schmidt runs 820

No. This was on John's table in Wyoming. His 626 was on a Rebco table in Monterey. Jayson's runs were on a GC1(?) in Maryland. I believe John has a GC4, but the video should be out soon.
It would be interesting to see what a top player's high run would be on a standard 9 foot diamond pro table like they play on at the DCC (not the 4 1/8" rotation table, the normal pro table). I recall you putting on those really cool 14.1 challenges, that was awesome! But I'm talking a similar dedicated & sustained effort to what produced Jayson and John's high runs. I'd be real curious to know what they could achieve on those Diamonds.

Yes he does, John plays all games well, last time he came through town we played Banks and he edged me out. Looking forward to his return here soon to avenge that loss.
Hmmm...you must be a strong player then and not your usual AZB'er. Freezer????

Allow me to correct you there, they stop competing. I don't think anyone who has ever caught the pool bug has stopped "playing" for any real length of time so long as they are physically able.
Fair enough, I will stand corrected (y)

It's not harder for the top pros, they just don't want to dedicate that much time for something meaningless.

If someone with a lot of money paid Joshua Filler to dedicate a few months on straight pool, I can see him easily beating the highest run.

There is no incentive for a top pro to attempt this, besides love for straight pool.

It didn't elevate Jason's career and it won't do anything for Schmidt.
false
big reward has been on the table for years for this

after jayson hit 714 they all kinda stopped trying

There has been no big reward for years, what are your talking about? There might have been a 10k reward at various times, hardly enough to entice pros.

Schmidt had some sort of private reward from Predator. Shaw also had some sort of private reward from Bobby.

But as far as a public "big reward has been on the table for years", that's a load of bs.

From my recollection, the high run in all the years at the DCC challenge was about 280. And, it just so happened to be on a 4 1/8" pocket table that got snuck into the challenge that particular year. I forget who it was, I want to say Filler but can't be sure. Bob would know for sure.

All time on a 4.5" diamond, I believe Danny Harriman has a video in the low 300's on one, from about 10 years ago.

hmmmm, think it was on a GC2.

To me, what was especially impressive was that he pretty much did it shooting at five pockets because the right corner pocket up table was grafted, up so he played patterns to avoid shooting at it.
