Johnny Archer

Yea that was her worst game against Archer. She screwed up and it was right there for the taking. She's been pretty dominant all weekend long.

This is why people said Archer was lucky to escape it. He didn't really win. 5-3 on a race to 6. Time just ran out and he advanced.

SVB didn't play the clock. He made sure he won.
She's going to be a great player, that has to be said, but her patterns need work if she's going to play more 8 ball. I didn't mean to come off quite as negative as my previous post indicated. She's young and will get more and more knowledge and experience as she plays.

I understand what you meant.

Savannah picked up somewhere around $17k for being in the final of a $1k entry event that was Fargo capped in the last couple of weeks. She has accomplished similar feats before. I don't even think she is old enough to drive a car yet.

Wonder when the last time JA won anything that paid more than $3k.

Lou vs Savannah, nine or eight ball, race to 11, who do you got lol?

A commentator said that she is 16. That was a 625 or 650 Max Fargo rate tournament that you referred to. Very impressive that she got into the finals.

If she is sixteen and matching up with top players, I can’t wait to see her at 26!

Just think what ten more years might do for her….

she might become a great player, but she may also plateau or eventually burn out.

It may not be the the best idea to put all of your eggs in one basket in terms of becoming a pro pool player at age 16, but if that's what she and her parents decide is best for her, I hope she succeeds and doesn't regret it. It's not a very lucrative career unless you are one of the best in the world and even then it's a grind.

That’s all true and if money is the primary goal pool is more of a gamble than many other options.

Some folks follow their heart and succeed others not. A strong education can never be taken away, but sports abilities decline as so many have seen with JA and many others.

Hippie Jimmy Reid is a great example of this. He scored a perfect SAT in high school and was offered free rides at all the Ivy League schools.

He loved pool and chose that route to become a world champion. At the end of his life he was broke and living with his Mom in Florida. That was where his life ended.

Pool is no guarantee of riches and not a career with a great future at this time.

Who knows where it will be in ten years. Right now Asia is a hotbed of pool popularity wise and might just be the future of pool. Here in America it seems to be on the decline.

With that in mind, I’d recommend she continue with pool and obtain a bachelors degree at the same time, just in case….

The Archer thing saddens me. I tried my best to defend him, not his actions but his worth as a human being. Guess I was hoping that he would make things right. It's pretty clear at this point that the only way he clears his debt is if someone forks over the money on his behalf. Trouble is -- as his game continues to fad off into the distance, so too will his list of friends. His ship has sailed. I still hold out hope for his redemption, as I would for any of you on here. It's Easter after all, at least for a few more minutes. Then you're all on your own. :)

I enjoy watching her play and wish her the best but I'm just not as easily impressed as many on here are. I think she still has a long way to go if she wants to get close to the top, and 16 isn't as young as people think when it comes to this game. Especially when you've already got 5 plus years of play under your belt. For the new crop of world class men, 12-18 may be the most important years. By 16, you can see the aptitude on the men's side. After that, it's more seasoning and fine tuning the details. Guess the next couple years should be pretty telling for her.

Just finished watching the Finals and she lost because of time running out. I've been watching pool for the last month with all the streams on youtube and she's been playing in a lot of tournaments out here.

In my opinion she's already a pro. She shoots like one and she has beaten up on men with high fargo ratings. We're talking about skunking them.

So this weekend she won the Juniors. 2nd in Womens, Eliminated in the semis in the Open by the eventual male winner.

Not bad. She could have won the women's final but she had a minute to run out 6 balls and rushed a shot.

She just turned 15 but I do agree with a poster above she should probably attend college but she can be top female player if she continues on. There is nobody that shoots at her level in the women's tour. I credit that to playing at Hard Times and competing with men and at Griffs this past month.

Her style of play is very similar to any top men's player. Just creative and plays with power and takes risk. She doesn't play like a typical female with more calm and conservative shots and shape which makes her an interesting prodigy because she's competes against men.

I like most of your post, but that part was just crazy. Even she'd agree.

Well in America if you want to be specific. She's crushed every female I've watched her play.

I've only started watching her for the past month and she was crushing the men too at Hard Times and at Griffs. So I thought to myself, perhaps she will destroy the women's field.

Iowa Tournament....started watching her compete in juniors and in the womens tournament. She did exactly that.

In the Open she went far too.

name one

and not in the ultimate pool format obviously
At Oscars's a few weeks ago. She basically destroyed everyone but got roasted by Oscar in the finals. The tournament is online.

that's a good result against a 740, who i assume is a semi-pro. but the 633 guy is not a high fargo man.

nope not that either. american sofia mast has beaten her when it mattered, including in world junior championships and national junior championship last year. same age, less social media following

Just against Sofia last night.

They promoted this guy....

but we got this guy. He looks rough and has a hunched back. He shoots like a league player. To be honest I think I can wipe the floor with him on the bar box. He can most likely still run them on the bigger open 9 footer. I'm a 9 foot guy and even he probably has a bit left in him. Very little but still.
Dream on.

This is just flat ass incorrect. Savannah is a joy to watch – she plays loose and aggressive and is much less robotic than many of the top women in the world, but to pretend like she’s on another level is just disrespectful.
