Hay Boby

This is Tim Scruggs very first cue he made in 1973 back when he made Joss cues.Tim Scruggs started his own company in 1978.This was Tims personal cue that he gave me almost 20 years ago. This cue has alot of history,a personal letter from Tim Scruggs and a video that was filmed for nbc tv called super cues from back in 1974 where Jim Rempe did an exhibition with this very cue. This cue is also for sale to very serious buyers only.

I like what you like I see.

About the other cue try emailing a picture of the buttcap to Danny at Joss Custom Cues. Let him see. He probably did the logo. After all that was almost 40 years ago. But his eyes might see a little something and
he may enjoy the conversation alot. Cuemakers love to hear from people that enjoy their work.
Nick :)

Thanks-

It has been nearly 15 years since I last spoke to him. I have been thinking it is well past due for a conversation with him about my cue. I have wanted to tell him what an influence on my life that cue has had but frankly thought it sounded like a bunch of mushy crap when I thought it out......but it's true. That cue helped make me who I am.

1974 joss

Here is one confirmed by Danny from 1974 when he was still learning to engrave. He said their is a name & year under the wrap. Piloted Ivory Joint w/Ivory & turquiose diamonds. One of the first cues he used turquiose in.

I really like that last one. Usually I like the straight grain cues less, but that is really sweet.

I know...some big names said burls and curls are "diseased" wood. I like it, my JOSS has it intensely and has a top notch hit.

Picked up a couple more today to go along with my 74' Micarta Joint Joss.
This one I'm guessing is mid 70's with 1 original shaft.

That new one looks great. Those colors are similar to what I want on my next custom. Hope life finds you well. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks. I know you're an old Schon guy, which I am too, but have you tried the old Joss Cues? Just curious. I think the really early S-Series Schons have a close feel to the old Joss Cues.

I could just as easily own and shoot with an old Joss and it would not bother me in the least bit. The ones I have played with have all been great players. I have considered numerous times purchasing one or another, but they have always escaped me or was just the wrong time financially. I have even considered putting an extra R series I have up for a trade for the right one a time or two, but I just seem to never get around to it or they are gone before you realize it. I am glad to see someone likes these older cues and goes through the trouble of freshening them up. Keep up the good work!

These are some beautiful cues. Nothing but PLAYERS used these cues when they were made!! Lots of old school DC players have their original JOSS cues and Fellini cases. I probably know 5 or 6 out there right now that are stored in gun safes, or sitting in a closet somewhere.....just aging like fine wine.

Thanks for the kind words Nick. That cue and the red veneer might be up for sale soon. That Ivory Box Joss is 57 inches, which I'm finding out is perfect for me. So, that's why I might be selling the others. The other 2 are PLAYERS!!!
Check back soon if you're into the old Joss Cues.
